Hello Sheilar... I have thousands of them :) Amazing when I think how many bugs crawlies are in my little yard.
I've not seen a toad for years W/Rose.

I was lying reading in bed the other night when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Next to my head on the pillow was a big black spider!! I carefully got hold of him and put him out of the window. When I told the women at work, they were squealing in horror!!
11 Jul, 2012
Sheilar . . . you are BRAVE. I'm with the squealers, lol!

Spiders move thats what gets me!

This one is one of the jumping spiders 'Marpissa muscosa' Drc.... It leaps on it's prey, with lightening speed.
11 Jul, 2012
Aww, Denise, they're harmless (unless you're a fly!!)
11 Jul, 2012

11 Jul, 2012
Jumpers, I wont be able to sleep tonight now!
11 Jul, 2012
Do they have 4 eyes or are they large nostrils, Lol
11 Jul, 2012
spiders have 8 eyes willi!!!
http://www.mdavid.com.au/spiders/eyes.shtml
11 Jul, 2012
They have eight eyes...First they calculate the distance of their prey, then they spin a bungee line of the right length just in case they miss. Then they leap up to 40 times their body length. They can take prey bigger than themselves.

OMG completely traumatised....I have faced many fears head on (was standing on 20 beer crates the other day at a team building event and I'm scared of heights). But the eight legged horrors give me the heebee jeebies big time, def not following this thread anymore!!

Incredible pic - that you happeend to be there with camera ready at the right moment is even more incredible. This sort of thing happens all the time, everywhere, but how many people manage to get such excellent pics of it??
12 Jul, 2012
Had to stop reading this when I reached the spider on Sheilar's pillow! Fantastic photo and fascinating creatures, but they 'freak me out'.
12 Jul, 2012
Excellent shot!
12 Jul, 2012
I truly don't get fazed by many animals, and have stroked a cheetah and cradled a python, but spiders!!!!!!! It's irrational, I know, but I HATE the bu**ers. I can sit and watch 'em for hours - they're really beautiful, but if it moves a muscle, I'm out of there, and have been known to scream a lot, too while I'm running! It's the big, black, beefy ones I particularly hate. This one's quite cute.
14 Jul, 2012
Totally awesome! :-))
16 Jul, 2012
I gotta put comment # 48- Gruesome! Red eyes on the little blood sucker!
