My goofy looking owl

My goofy looking owl

I had to buy something ! I can home from work to see about 200 starlings around the pond, in the waterfall and in the driveway, they had eaten about every tadpole we had, and we were afraid they may have punctured our liner on the shallow end. Luckily no damage this time, and hopefully now with our ugly owl, there won't be a next time!

Pond is lovely. Not sure the starlings will take any notice. they sit on the TV aerials near us watching to see if any food is put out for other birds. We have to hide it all for the blackbirds and thrushes.

Pond looks great. I think something got my tadpoles too but not sure what. One day there were thousands, and then there were none.

Thanks for the advice and the nice comments !
Yes Blodyn, these do bloom, I don't get as many blooms as someone who's pond is in more sun though. I had my first bloom two days ago, but I didn't get a photo of it, I'll try and keep a eye out for the next one and post a pic of it for you.

Ha ha well if it's as scary as my garden owl, those starlings will be perched on top of it's head. Beautiful pic.

Have you tried children's windmills - the sort you can buy in hardware stores? Shiny silver ones, I think, work best. Use them in our salad beds.

Know what you mean, Magnoliatree, we called them pinwheels. and they do a great job! My father-in-law put one of these owls in his backyard to keep the robins out of his cherry tree!!! The tree was so swathed with netting that it looked like a dowager empress,,,lol.

Your water hyacinths are so healthy looking. Last summer mine bloomed the whole summer, this year I haven't had may blooms.
