Love the colours on this Grevillea, Pip. So pretty ... and looks great with those pink Gazanias in the background.

There is a pic of a beautiful red Grevillea in this months BBC Garden's Illustrated mag. It is beautiful, but this is really lovely too! I doubt even the hardiest one would fare well in Scotland, but let me look it up for you southerners in case you want to try it......Grevillea victoriae. Says it survived -20 last winter. Flowers Nov-spring. Sunny well drained sites and avoid very limey soils. 1.5X2m

Pip_c:

Great photo! They are in full bloom here now too. We grow endless varieties of Grevillea here...and they're very widely grown because of their drought tolerance.

What's the weather doing at you just now Delonix? We're having storms here....high winds and rain.

Thanks Delonix and Karensusan ;o)

Karensusan63:

It was warm, windy and clear today. This is Santa Ana Wind season...which is the hot, dry off-shore winds we get this time of year. It suppose to be about 85F/ 29C by Saturday for inland San Diego.

How absolutely wonderful! You enjoy every minute of it!! :)) I think we have a long hard cold winter ahead of us in the UK! Still, you can't beat the UK in spring!

Karensusan63:

I hope you don't have a long hard winter ahead! From what I've read and saw on the news about last year's winter in the U.K., you deserve a mild winter this year.

The weather here has been very nice during the day, however, the nights have been pretty cold! ...getting down to 53F/12C.
