Yet More Wellies and a Straw Bale Planted with Vegetables

I've not seen this done before but at Hyde Hall, they experimented with growing vegetables in straw bales,.
They put fertiliser in the bales to expediate the composting process abnd then planted the veg in them. Reasonably succesful, by the looks of it. This pic was taken inJune 2009

Great idea they use straw for strawberries to protect them, I would imagine this is for heat.
