Iris reticulata 'Harmony' (Iris reticulata (Iris))

This one opened today - it's in a pot in the porch, but there's also one out in the back garden!

There should be white ones somewhere too - I can't remember where I planted them!

Which one is it, Alice?

Isn't it hard to decide which of these is the prettiest - I can't, certainly!

15 Feb, 2010

George.....

15 Feb, 2010

But 'Natasha' is yet to arrive.....however, I have to admit that 'George' is the clear winner at the moment!

Have you planted any, Carol?

16 Feb, 2010

What a lovely photograph! this is my favourite of all the iris pics so far this winter, the colour is very classy!

16 Feb, 2010

Thank you - I like these little Irises, as you may have gathered! :-)))

16 Feb, 2010

Yes, so do I but the birds come and destroy all mine so I've given up now! Perhaps I will grow some in the greenhouse next winter!

16 Feb, 2010

That's why I had a pot of Iris danfordiae in the greenhouse - not only did the pigeon sit on them, but they pecked them as well - pouring insult on to injury!

!!!******!!

16 Feb, 2010

Oh yes, that's EXACTLY what I said! Henry knows about pigeons - if they land when he's in the garden, he chases them away! YAYYYY!! Go Henry!!

16 Feb, 2010

If as much as a FLY lands in our garden all hell is let loose! Hmph...Terriers!!

17 Feb, 2010

He does chase the poor blackbirds, but watches the little birds on the feeders with interest. If the 'Jumbo-jets' arrive, though, he's at the door wanting to get at them! Well trained, aren't they. :-))) (Wish he'd leave the b'birds alone, though!)

Beautiful little iris... 'I have lots of 'purple gem' Spritz...I think it was on your pics i first saw them....

18 Feb, 2010

Thanks, Motinot! That's really nice to know. :-)))

I find new plants on GOY and sometimes, later in the year, they magically appear in my garden! LOL.

18 Feb, 2010

oooh a gracious little lady..:o))

18 Feb, 2010

Indeed she is - and there are more in the pot just about to open! :-))

18 Feb, 2010

18 Feb, 2010

I love this I got one just like it this morning. I love looking for new flowers every day.

19 Feb, 2010

So do I, Gg. :-)

19 Feb, 2010

It looks lovely peeping through the Heuchera. :o)

19 Feb, 2010

There are three out now - maybe more tomorrow!

19 Feb, 2010

Now I remember why I stopped growing them ( see latest comment) the birds eat them, too expensive to feed to our feathered friends, they have the best as it is. (toast with butter the other day)!!

19 Feb, 2010

Really? They don't seem very interested in mine, thank goodness. I have enough trouble with wildlife already! :-((((

20 Feb, 2010

Unfortunately the only birds around my house are seagulls pigeons and magpies encouraged by some people feeding them. I wish we had some small birds too.

21 Feb, 2010

Pigeons are a real pain - I've tried all sorts of plants under the bird feeders, and they wreck them. At the moment, the best one that's still standing is Ophiopogon - the black one. They squashed a lovely Heuchera and two Gypsohila, also a small Hebe. I don't like bare soil, so I need to have something growing there. Maybe I'll have to find something very prickly! (evil laugh!)

21 Feb, 2010

I'm lucky they don't come into my garden but I do occasionally get magpies on the roof 3 doors away she puts bread out on a flat roof.

23 Feb, 2010

You are VERY lucky - they try hard to get all the food off the bird table, but we have some mesh over the front to stop that. Hee hee! Foiled again!
