Thanks, it was just a lucky accident. Couldn't remember what phlox was growing there when I planted the coleus this spring. I don't know the name of it....lol. I think there are only about a thousand or so different types to pick from these days...lol. I just pick them cause they're pretty !

I love this phlox and the coleus makes a great contrast :-).The heads on mine are quite small this year, probably in need of a feed. I've always regarded coleus as indoor plants, certainly where I live which is a shame because they have such colourful leaves :-) This is a beauty!

We grow them as annuals too, but I couldn't garden without them, they are the main source of color in my garden in the fall when most everything else has bloomed out. Luckly they are priced cheap here if you buy them early in the spring, I get a 4-pack for $ 2.50 at a local nursery. You might think that's high...I don't know....lol, but It's cheap to me compared to the prices of the other plants they sale.!

I think $2.50 really reasonable for 4 plants!! WhenI first got marrried I used to love having an indoor coleus. I used to nip out the tips to encourage them to bush out and try very hard to grow a better plant than my mother-in-law who first introduced them to me! lol

I'll bet you outted her too, didn't you ! I used to pinch out the tips too, but I did it for another reason...lol, I'm cheap !! I'd strip off one set of leaves and put the stems in a glass of water in my window and grow more plants for free...ahahaha.

What a marvellous plant... I'm always snivelling about how I can't grow phlox, with those I might be tempted to give it another try...
Don't confuse cheap with smart...lol. ?? When growers do it it's called maximizing profits...lol.. your profit is more flowers! sounds smart to me!!

Thank you Lori, I think I will bring hubby in here to read this post ! The word 'smart' is rarely ever attached to my name around here...lol. I really appreciate that !
