I would try to get a cutting for you Janey, but I don't think she'd appreciate that very much ;-)

Hi Bertie! Bzzzzzzz! Look but don't touch! Mandy loves to eat bees...especially bumble bees...I keep waiting for her to get stung...but so far she's managed to keep from getting her just desserts!

Oh as soon as the clover is out on the lawn she'll be leaping all over the place like a mad thing trying to catch them x-) Think she's immune.....

Just you wait, Bertie, clover and bees!...
Birtie must read Emily Dickinson:
"A Prairie of Your Own
By Emily Dickinson
To make a prairie
It takes a clover
And one bee....
One clover and a bee and a reverie....
The reverie alone will do
If bees are few!"
LOL!

Thank you for that Lori!
And in response, I give you:-
"The Hedgerow" by Ian Hamilton Finley
Buzz, buzz

And all that jaz.
LOL x-)

Birtie and the Bees! sounds like a 60's rock group! Bzzzzzz.... Mandy loves to eat bumblers. (for which I am constantly on her case) ..lucky Birtie..her bees are out already!

Thanks F1 - she is pretty, but I'm careful not to tell her so in case she gets too big-headed ;-)
Lori - if she starts singing, I will get really worried! They must be immune to bee stings do you think?
10 Mar, 2009
hmmmm.... now that you mention it...I've seen Mandy drop a bee after snatching it from mid air.... and shake her head...then ever-so-gingerly pick it up with her lips and chomp, chomp, chomp....gross! I have been sure that she was stung a number of times but she's never shown any swelling or drooling or discomfort from eating the bees...just a silly smug satisfied mug! Bad dog! totally different subject: singing cats... once had a cat (Barney) who looked like he was lipsynching Queen,(Death on Four Legs) whenever he saw a bird nearby...he would slink, and crouch...his whiskers all a-twitch...his mouth agape...his eyes opening and closing, tongue lolling, tail tip quivering..(.looked like he was having a grandmal) whenever he would set his sites on a bird It was hilarious.

LOL They are so funny - I love to just watch them.... Birts chatters out the window when she can see a bird - strange, as she doesn't do if she sees any other sort of animal - even ones she might like to chase, like a big bee. Think she's just telling me about it half the time x-)
11 Mar, 2009
Ah yes, they bring so much to us, don't they? Life would seem empty to me without my dog, birds, gecko, goldfish and rabbit!!! LOL!!
12 Mar, 2009
You do have your hands full don't you Lori! :-)
12 Mar, 2009
My husband gives a resigned sigh...and I can see him thinking..."Whatever makes you happy, dear!"
12 Mar, 2009
x-) I have my hands full with just a single moggy.....
12 Mar, 2009
I couldnt bring her with me in the airplane! But she has been well looked after there, Im sure! :)
13 Mar, 2009
My buffy chatters when she sees a bird outside the window, I love to hear her make those unusal sounds, and like Birdie , that's the only time she does it . She sounds like a little old lady, softly talking to herself . Thats the only way I know how to describe the way it sounds ....lol.

B lourenco - glad to hear your girl is being well cared for :-)
F1 - that's a good description!
