A good friend of mine wanted an unusual wedding so they chose a lambing shed on a farm( no livestock in there and beautifully decorated). The bride and close friends wore gorgeous wellies to tone in with their outfits.....they did have dancing shoes for later....:0)

that sounds funny Pam, I am so glad my daughter does not wear them to work, she has just asked me on the phone can I make strawberry jelly for her birthday, BUT i have to make it with white wine,

18 Feb, 2012

maybe sparkling white wine so it has bubbles in??

18 Feb, 2012

hey stick she said could I make it fizzy, do you think that would work then, any idea on a nice easy birthday cake,

18 Feb, 2012

i dont know yorkshire but there are recipes for it.

what does she like for cakes? chocolate? fruit? lemon?

or mars bar cake ~ which is easy.

18 Feb, 2012

Ralph likes mars bars, she likes anything, thought a bit of a fun cake, I would like to do her a thorntons one like she had made for my 65th but it would cost a fortune

18 Feb, 2012

just make a chocolate cake, covered in chocolate butter icing and place some nice chocolates on the top!! oh and some indoor sparklers.

18 Feb, 2012

brilliant idea, thank you, now where do I buy the sparklers from,

18 Feb, 2012

um, maybe a cake shop ~ you know the icing type of shop, if not the internet????

18 Feb, 2012

thank you my dear, I will do a bit of googling

18 Feb, 2012

i hope you find what you need

18 Feb, 2012

I've just made an easy chocolate torte
its a whisked sponge
2oz sugar
2 eggs whisked together until thick
fold in 1oz plain flour sieved
and 1oz cocoa powder sieved
I used a large cake tin liner and a loose bottom tin

set oven on 200c and cook for 8 to 10 minutes

meanwhile break 7oz plain choc in a bowl
add 7oz whipping cream
put in microwave until choc just melted
then whisk and chill

make a couple of fluid oz strong black coffee and add a splash of rum or brandy if liked
pour this over the cake leaving it in the tin

remove choc from fridge, whisk again and pour over cake
chill until cold

to decorate the book shows an icing sugar pattern, putting a doily on top and sprinkling with the icing sugar, carefully remove doily leaving a pretty pattern

havn't tried the cake yet but the chocolate cream yummmm

You could use different coverings Val like Liquorice Allsorts or flowers I have seen tubes of little sugar flowers in the shops to copy her own new boots !
