Wow! I'm ashamed to admit that my Dahlias never looked so good--they keep fizzling in the heat. What's the secret?

Thanks all for your comments. Tugbrethil, I don't have any special secrets. We are both in Arizona but I'm in Zone 10 which (though we sizzle at times) does not get as hot as it gets in your zone. Though we are instructed to plant Dahlias in full sun, I take that direction with a grain of salt and have mine planted where they will get full morning sun but in the afternoon they are shaded by the bushes and trees around them. In addition I mulch them and that seems to really help keep them moist.

Curses! Foiled by the Phoenix heat again! It's amazing how much difference those 10 or 15 degrees make. I've tried them in morning sun and bright shade, but they still cooked in morning sun, and refused to bloom in the shade. Thanks, anyway!
