I noticed them bravely flowering this afternoon.

Certainly brave.

They can be really difficult shrubs...temperamental. At Junker's Nursery, she specialises in Daphnes - and she puts a warning on the catalogue to say that they may or may not like someone's garden!
I inherited this one. I'm not sure I'd want to risk planting another one, though!
Yes, Toto - that wind today was wicked! Brrrr....

One of our favourite plants, but, as you say difficult to site, have not grown one here down south, very expensive to buy now......but the perfume....lovely!!

No flowers on mine this year, but as I've moved it, I'll be grateful if it survives! It's growing though so there's hope!

Definitely - you've done well to move it successfully, Karen!
Dd - I thought about buying a white-flowered one, but I've gone off that idea - Karan Junker's comment on the one I fancied was that it was 'difficult'. Hmmm...nope!

This is the only Daphne I have. Why do you think they are difficult? Is is because they actually like warmth? or are they just really moody specimens?

No idea! Have you come across Junker's Nursery? They happen to be in Somerset, but that's a coincidence. They specialise in particular genera...Betula, Daphne, and others. Take a look at the website sometime!
She just confirmed my hear-say knowledge that Daphnes are, as you say - 'moody'!

OK! I'll look into it!

The website might be under P.M.A. Plant Specialities - but try 'Junker's' first. It's well worth a browse!

Thanks!

I bet they won't be too long - the sun feels warmer today. I hope it does there, as well!
