I've just read about these in the Garden magazine, and it's great to see someone is growing them. I think they are the prettiest of many, many cultivars. :)

Lovely. Are these the same ones you have had for 2/3 years,I ask because they look to be clumping up,I would settle for keeping them alive, but we have been down this road before some can some can't.

Thanks for all the comments. They're quite striking, aren't they! Yes, Brian, I think you'll remember that I've had these for about three years now, and other Iris reticulata for several more years. They all seem happy and return each year.

I planted another 150 bulbs in the autumn, as they give so much pleasure so early.

I read (I think that was in 'The Garden' magazine) that they should be planted about 6" deep - pity the article wasn't published in time for me to do that to the last lot!

That's interesting have never planted them that deep might be worth a try

Thanks - I agree! :-)

They are so beautiful. I have two in flower also, which is amazing so early especially here in Yorkshire. Yes. I was told to plant them deep by the nursery I bought them from to ensure they will come back each year. That must be where I have gone wrong in the past.

I wish the RHS had published the article before I planted an additional 150 Iris reticulata last autumn - I'd have taken their advice! The older ones I've had for several years are all coming into flower now, so that's good. :-)

I shall plant even more this year - deep.
