Lovely delicate shade

It is a beaut isn't it Karen. I got it yesterday from a local lady. Like you I love Irises, and my garden isn't the best one for them, but I'm going to look after this one. Half the rhizome is above the soil facing south, they do like to be baked. Saying that my gorgeous yellow one from last year is all leaves, nice sturdy lush ones...Lol! I've added pebbles round the base of this one too, to keep it nice and dry. Fingers crossed X. Ive seen them grown in large troughs or tubs, could you maybe try that, if its too wet and cold, you could bring them into your conservatory?

Thanks Sheila, it is even paler than this photo shows.

No, I think I shall just accept that they are not going to be happy here. After all, my siberian Irises flourish, so I shall enjoy those instead and think of the beardeds as 'English' flowers! :)) Having said that, I have seen some great ones in Scotland...its just I don't have the room to leave them to bake and not overcrowd them, which is what they love.

Ooh, that's a stunner. I love it! I wish I could get them to grow here, but it's just too wet and too shady. I've one flower on my dwarf 'cherry garden' which has now finished and not another flower on any of them. I have to give up now I think. I bought five last year and none of them have really grown. Time to admit defeat on one of my favourite plants...been trying for about 20 years now!! lol :))
