Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Magic'

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Magic' (Pittosporum tenuifolium)

Here's my variegated evergreen shrub chosen to brighten up the front garden. I'm just hoping that it proves to be as hardy as the other Pittospermums in my garden.

Love Pittosporums :-)))))))
I have loads of them !

11 Nov, 2009

It wasa difficult choice - the GC had a whole lot of different ones!

11 Nov, 2009

They 'do' seem to be fashionable at the moment, don't they ?
:-)

They are hardy for me too Spritz didnt realise there is so many variteties. do make nice statements in the border.

The guy at the GC warned me that the small-leaved ones might suffer from wind-burn. I do hope not!

12 Nov, 2009

Fingers crossed Barbara, mine have been okay but they are a little larger and have wavy leaves.

12 Nov, 2009

I wouldn't agree.
You know how windy this site is and none of mine suffer from windburn.
I would think it may be possible if you'd planted shallowly or generally poorly but not otherwise.

I can't remember, Louise - how big are the leaves on yours? I have the chocolate one - are the leaves the same size as those? These are smaller and rounder. The other two plain green ones have much larger leaves - yes, wavy edged, Pp.

All mine are all small leaved, probably about 1/2 - 3/4" only.
I have the green, variegated and bronze leaved ones.

I do hope it's going to be OK, Louise! I really like this one. :-))

Barbara, I recently posted a pic of my ginormous! 'Irene Paterson', and if I do say so myself, is a superb specimen, and it didn't get a second glance :0( - what's your Secret ?

13 Nov, 2009

Oooops! Sorry - I shall go and make several comments on it to make you happy! Interesting - I went with the intention of buying her - but the label had a warning note on it!

13 Nov, 2009

What warning note ?

13 Nov, 2009

....saying she didn't like chilly winds! And - where is she, please? I've been to look - no luck, and not in your garden list, either!

Page 1, 2nd row, 3rd from the left, the one with no comments and no likes - you're not looking hard enough.

13 Nov, 2009

Found it - it's got lots of comments - I can't think why you said it hadn't?? lol.

13 Nov, 2009

By the way, can't understand the bit about chilly winds, there's nothing much between me and the Purbecks, and it doesn't turn a hair.

13 Nov, 2009

Well - let's hope that my new baby stands up to our westerlies, as well! :-))
