I like the color as well. I actually bought one last year up north on the Island and hope that it will survive. Here in Mexico they grow very well . Maybe too well..... everywhere.

I can hardly keep it alive on the Island :-) I love its colour.

It looks good in parks and along the freeways. Although, I would never want one in my yard. :>)
The only one I would want in my yard is Plumbago indica or coccinea (Red Plumbago). I see it grown here...it's not as common...and definitely tropical in origin. The flowers are out of this world beautiful, though.
