Cleve West

Went to a talk given by Cleve West yesterday. It was all about his allotment and nothing at all to do with his being a garden designer. What an entertaining couple of hours (was meant to be one hour but he carried on). He began by saying ‘if anyone is here for serious advice on growing vegetables I’m not the person to ask, read a very good book instead’. It was all about trial and error on his and his partner’s part and the great fun, and frustrations, they’d had over the past 10 years. Also what great friendships they had made and the characters who share the allotments. There is a book, of course, called Our Plot which I just had to buy and I must say I haven’t been able to put it down. Great read, lovely guy. A no pic blog I’m afraid because I didn’t feel comfortable taking photographs of him – though many people were.

Me too ... he always comes across as a very genuine sort of man ... enjoy the book! . . . . .

I am so enjoying the book, in fact I've nearly finished it. A lovely present for anyone I feel, and that's why I've asked my son for it - even though I've read it already! It has to be better than him getting me yet another Body Shop facial voucher - hate them so give the voucher away every year. He means well though and as it's his birthday today I can't be too ungrateful.

Now I'm confused ... if you bought the book why would you want another copy? ... Happy birthday to your son ... but tell him to be more inventive with his choice of gift for you ... lol! ... :o)

How lovely to meet him Ginellie, and you definitely did the right thing NOT photographing Cleve West . . . no worries, we can all picture his handsome face!!

Sorry Shirley, I meant that Mark, my son, could just give me the money for the book I already have. Easy option for him though. Yes Sheila I thought him very handsome too, but he did apologise for his moustache which apparently he hates, but grew for charity throughout November.

Ah, now I understand! ... I agree there are lots of men with very weird moustaches grown for Movember ... they should all be shaving them off tomorrow ... 1st December! ... :o)

Yes - our son in Cornwall grew a tache for the men's charity . . . thank goodness he'll be clean-shaven soon!
