Our borough has been made ‘Royal borough of Greenwich’ today, new signposts have gone up and some road signs have the royal name on them too. ooohhh posh eh? I expect they will put our rates up now Lol. Well someone has to pay for all this.

Wrap up warm, its cold outside, will it snow tomorrow?

What a lovely picture!

we're neighbours, Grandmage! I'm in Tower Hamlets, just across the river - not much "royal" about us, though, unless as a euphemism (*s* is a bit rude, so wo'nt elucidate - offers of bribes can be sent via pm!)

Lovely picture :))))))))))))))))- wish we lived in a nicer town

Oooooh, I am so impressed.....with the Camellia! ;)))) Lovely GG! Sleet getting a bit whiter here now....but very wet and windy and grey.

Excellent ! Emailing a red carpet right now ;o)))

Oooh, tuppence to speak to you now, Gran?! Gorgeous pic - and what a lovely place to live. If only I'd known(!) - I went to Greenwich for the first time last year, arrived by boat and stayed in a lovely B&B. Saw a fantastic display of the "longitude" clocks in the park.

4 Feb, 2012

Do we have to bow when you come on GoY now Grandmage ;o))

4 Feb, 2012

sheila, that boat trip might be twice the price now landing in a Royal borough!!!

4 Feb, 2012

your royalness Granmage, shall bowe my head as you pass through now haha :o))

4 Feb, 2012

Hey up,Gmage..hope you are going to open your garden to us lesser mortals, and not just by Royal appointment.:o)
I will practise my curtsey, just in case we ever pass your way....:o))

LOL LOL LOL !! You all did make me laugh when I logged on. Of course you will have to bow, scrape & curtsey when speaking to me now San, B. & Hywel, and I expect Sticki everything will double in price. B, couldnt open my garden, couldnt cope with the stress!
Thanks Sheila, the longitude clock in the park is beautiful, they have some very interesting things in the museum there. TT, not before time either! Karen keep warm up there more snow due, Bilbo what else did you expect! Thanks Paul, Fran(hello neighbour) & Gatt. I confess this photo is last years Camellia, this years are keeping their heads down at mo. hope they dont get too spoilt by this cold. I really dont live in a brilliant town it has deteriorated over the years with graffitti etc. dumped this and that, traffic & people. I was born here and thought it was better back then than now :~( my brother lives in Warwickshire and wonders why I live here, well now he will know, its got posher, but sadly that is only a name! (but a good one)!
Wrap up against the elements now, going to make some bread. x

Tower Hamlets has been Yuppified in a lot of areas, but sadly not this one. Or maybe not so sadly - real people get pushed to the edges of "posh" areas, we can't afford to rub shoulders with Yuppies, even if they'd lower themselves enough to tolerate real people next door!

I used to go to Greenwich a lot, mostly for the Motherstone in Greenwich Park, a pagan site said to be Stone Age - when someone told me that, I couldn't hel but think, well, aren't all stones "stone age"?

The Observatory Hill is a great one to skaeboard down, but not so much fun to climb up - I was disappointed to find that even the International Date Line outside the Obervatory had been walled off last time I went, one had to pay to get in even that far. Went to the gift shop instead and buoght an earth-from-space poster which I had framed.

I might take my kite over there one day, I think there's some people who go kite-flying on the Hill. had it for years, but never been out of the pack - too self-conscous to try it alone on my local bit of green!

LOL Fran, I guess all stones ARE stone age! I live fairly close to Avebury, went last year and took along my drum!
Enjoy all those new sign posts GM!!!

oh, lucky you, Lulu! I've been there twice, but once was a "flying visit", on the way back from Glastonbury (midsummer, not the Festival!). Amazing place.

Amazes me, too, that they put a major road slap bang through the circle; couldn't they have detoured it? made crossing the road, which we did frequently, a tad hazardous.

Hve you been to the West Kennet Long Barrow? that's awesome. We also went to (but not up!) Silbury Hill. Phenomenal.

I've tried to go back there, but I have no transport, which is a bit frustrating (she understated!). The nereast B&B I found was at East Kennet, a mile or so away - and they only had family rooms.

Oh, have you seen the old BBC series Children of the Stones? set in a mythical viallge, but filmed at Avebury.

Sorry to have diverted the tread, Grandmage, I'll shut up now!

4 Feb, 2012

Love the picture your graciousness......

4 Feb, 2012

Spent a few hours in the west Kennet longbarrow!!! With my drum which died because it was damp...have bought a damp proof one now. Are we fellow Pagans?!!!

4 Feb, 2012

grins, sort of, I'm trying, but not always easy to remember. rather than divert GM's thread, shall we start a new one?

LOL LOL LOL again folks, you do make me laugh!! Thanks Cris. Hb. Lou & Dd. when the snow goes, started 7pm this eve, I will try to grab a picture of our street signs, dont hold your breaths though it might be a while.
Sticki, i just realised i ddint answer your question, this has been done for her Maj. 60th, which coincides just nicely with the olympics!
Cris I only eat cucumber sarnys you know!!! and Fran I will keep my eyes peeled for you wending your way upwards up that there hill!!

4 Feb, 2012

neatly done!! next you might be an Olympian Borough??? if there is such a thing

perhaps you will get a royal walkabout too??

4 Feb, 2012

It was too cold to go to Avebury last week. It was the festival honouring the beginning of spring!!!!! Brrr!

4 Feb, 2012

it's fairly 60s, Sticki, but interesting: it's available on Amazon, and so I finally got the whole series. Now to get around to playing it ...

I'm not particulary bothered about the Olympics: part of the Marathon will be run along Whtiechapel Road, and they've been busy tarting it up - not to improve things for the people who live there, just to make it pretty for the cameras.

And you won't belive the number of hotels suddenly springing up round here! sigh, I could rent this place out for the fortight and make a small fortune, but doubt anyone'd be interested, as I don't have a TV licence.

I did email the Olympic website to ask if David Tennant could light the Olympic flame, as he did in a Doctor Who episode "Fear Her". No reply ...

Ostara is my special time of year, Lulu: that's when I went to Glastonbury (just blogged it), and why I went.

4 Feb, 2012

Grandmage, I do so hope one has been practising drinking tea with one's pinkie extended, and waving the regal stiff-armed wave, and walking without tripping over the red carpet, and giving big garden-parties for one's subjects. :o))

5 Feb, 2012

Of course one has Gatt. I practise the 'wave' daily. Lol

5 Feb, 2012

And has one perfected it yet, your Grandmagesty?

5 Feb, 2012

Not sure really! Lol.
