A very Busy: Hornet mimic hoverfly!

I was sitting in the garden just watching, as I like to do ! and this rather large creature took a fancy to my fennel flowers and he stayed for ages so was able to take some good photos, thought you might like to see them.

You cannot see from the photo the size of him, but he was large and rather beautiful. Thanks to Scottish who recognised and found out what its name is…Hornet mimic hoverfly.

I love to see insects on flowers (I mean the beneficial ones lol)
And I love fennel. It's got a lovely scent.
You can tell that bee is big by comparison to the fennel flowers. I would love to have see it

Having a wonder around the garden today, I noticed there were bees, hoover flys everywhere the whole place was buzzing. I was lost out there for a short while just watching them, lovely.
I'll have to get some fennel.
