"watering" the compost bin etc.

My daughter in San Diego, California is a " master composter". Yes, they work very hard on the subject and eventually qualify to teach the it. She actually went to a junior school and had a class of young kids fascinated, so much so that she had parents phoning that evening asking her about it.
Not at all convinced that would happen here.
In America they pronounce the " post" part of the word “compost” rhyming with the word “most” whereas we rhyme it with the word “lost”. But the kids she taught now do it the English way ! Good for her !
She tells me the temperature in one of her compost bins recently was 135 degrees F recently whilst the weather at that time was only 64. And she sent me a “long-pronged” thermometer to check mine which, sadly, was only 70 degrees. ( failed again ).
But she insists no-one over there pees in their bin and was disgusted when I admitted to this heinous crime.

How does she know they don't ,Hank ? ."Excuse me,but do you pee in your compost bin ? " isn't really an opening line to a gardenig conversation ,is it ? ..:o)))

Thanks for your comment, B, but one has to call a spade a spade.
I sent my daughter proof that they" do it " over there but she was not amused. ( i hasten to add that the proof was a vid I saw earlier today.)

I can remember seeing an interview on the telly a few years back, it was the actress who used to play Mavis on Corrie, a very keen gardener, she was saying how good it was s`posed to be for the compost heap and that she often asked her guests to oblige, lol....

I got my OH to donate a few jugfuls today for the first time as I noticed all the worms had gone. Hoping for better things soon! Glad your daughter is teaching the US a thing or two!
