Someone on here was saying how much they loved the old fashioned dahlias…well the ladies at Lavender Fields have a nice garden dedicated just to dahlias. They are currently in their prime, so last Sunday we went over and took a few pictures to share…

Lovely blog with so many Dahlias! I love it! The flowers are really magnificent!
I wish I could grow them on my balcony. I did in fact grow some one year, the low growing ones. Another year I grew a couple of white cactus ones but the earwigs from all over town had a feast on them. I haven't grown them since than but I picked up some seeds from some chocolate leaf ones & I'm going to give them a go next year.

They're lovely HW! And those names....!
'I'm Spartacus!'...
'No...I'M Spartacus!'.....fabulous!
Wouldn't that be a great job to get up and go to every morning - naming flowers!
There are lots of keen dahlia people on GoY who will just love this blog...I can't grow them very well but I think they're fantastic flowers for late summer/early autumn ( fall ) colour.
Hitara Diadem reminds me a little of one my Dad used to grow, purple and white, which I loved as a kid.
Lovely photos!
