Slow progress

I will be posting some new photos but progress so far includes a first coat of garden paint to the fence. B&M had 5litre tubs for 2.99 which was so cheap! I have cleared most of the garden and planted the daliahs in the rockery bed.

I took of my followers advice and bought the tool to get rid of the roots. A mattock? I have tried a small area and its hardwork but does the trick. I reckon it will take the year to clear my garden. The roots are enormous of the Ivy. Some as thick as my arm so its a bit soul distroying. However this is a long term project so i need patience.

Yes, a heavy mattock is the tool for grubbing out roots.
Good luck.....keep plugging away.

Well done you and keep taking those photos at every stage of how truly awful it all was, before you got in there with your new mattock!
The satisfaction when you look back at them every time you've finished an area knowing that you did it, will be enormous and give you that much needed motivation. Good luck with the Ivy.
Btw which part of the country are you?

Am there on Ivy, started attacking mine last week but by the sound of it, yours is way, way worse then mine, poor thing. I so agree with Resinone! When I look at photos I took of my garden last year and then look out of window now, the feeling is great. Posting on here also helped so much, every gain I posted, I got so much support and encouragement, it really helped to get on with it. Good luck and look forward to seeing the photos :-).

Always think........every area you have cleared........you havent got to do it again.

Also, I never pick up anything twice. If its weeds, or rubbish or whatever, I always put it into an old bucket or
container. Saves back ache.

All the very best to you and do let us know how you get on. I am sure you are looking forward to the nice bits that will follow this very heavy work at the moment.
Good luck with your project.
