It would be marvellous Jacque!!!!!! A community garden perhaps?. Do you think there are lots of forms to follow, as it seems too good to be true.? I saw a programme on guerilla gardeners some time ago. Beautifying some very ugly corners. You have official approval........wonderful. Look forward to seeing the project take off.

Maybe people on here could help donate a few bits and bobs. I,ve always got pots of spare plants that I have either grown from seed or taken cuttings etc.

Let us know your plans and I can send you a list of some of the bits I have.
Obviously some are small and some are large such as New Zealand Flax.

Good luck.

Great Jacque,
We did a similar thing this summer. We took over a plot of land alongside a lovely old church in our road.
The area was full of weeds, rubbish and was totally overgrown with brambles.Noone owned the land, so we were told we could make communal garden on the plot. I set up a working party and we cleared it. We were given masses of plants and the whole area looked so much better, and before we knew it we won Bristol in Bloom with a silver Gilt award. We have just planted several hundred bulbs for spring colour. We are going for Gold next year.It just shows what can be achieved when you all work together. I will post up a blog sometime about our efforts. Good luck with you project Jacque, it will be well worth the effort.
You can do it!!! xx

Congrats Jacque you will do a brill job, hope you get a good bit of help with it,will look forward to seeing the finished project, keep us all informed :~))))

That is one of the best things about a project like this, as people meet and speak to one another properly for the first time, with a common purpose, with something lovely to aim for. Its a good job there are people like Jacque who love to get things moving and really and enjoy the experience.

Hi all :) i thought about a bench 2 San/Avis but i then thought of the Loud Teenagers who sometimes hang out in the Streets & decided not on having 1 as it mite encorage noise/nuisance 2 myself & neighbours which wouldnt go down well :(
Im aming 4 a year round colour Scheme Vineman which is also Bird/Wildlife Friendly which is why im going 4 the UK Native Rowan Tree as Birds love their Berries i believe Jane/Ray & they give so much colour interest so iv sloweed down & given some thought to it Aster:) My closer Neighbours r my friends already Dorjac/Mobee so i know theyl love the Idea & will want 2 be involved :)

16 Dec, 2009

Wow Jacque... what a good idea for you to gesign the space opp you..... i bet you have some great ideas..........

16 Dec, 2009

we have a seating area in our village and i must say all the teens hang out there, even though there is a bin they still just drop their little and plastic bottles, in our news letter the council were going to take the bench area away so there is a bit of heated discussions going on at the moment about it, but what are the kids doing out so late anyway,, thats what i think, should be at home, we have a set time in our village that they have to be home by,, and local surport police which we pay extra for but its worth it, we dont get much trouble at all

16 Dec, 2009

Hi San sadly we dont have a Police Surport here :( i think it should be Law for all Children/Teenagers 2 be indoors by a certain time @nite as some parents dont care where their Children r these days & many of them r causing Problems 2 the Public making it unsafe to be out ourselfs :/

16 Dec, 2009

Hi Jacque good on you - I've been doing my community garden for the past year and to be honest gave it a week! but once I got the kids involved they "owned" it and if someone was doing something naughty near it the kids would have a go at them - so maybe by involving them it may make them think twice at wrecking it?? Good luck!!!

16 Dec, 2009

Hi Genuiss theres a family live oppisite me with 4 children aged between 8 & 13 :) Now uv mentioned children i remember them helping me dig&plant my front garden last yr when i started to get it sorted out !! I will be asking them if theyd like to take part 2 as the Council Lady z yesterday itd be great 2 get younger 1s interested as theres not enough of them in the Group

16 Dec, 2009

yes maybe if younger ones were involved they may appreciate it more jacque and look after it :o)

16 Dec, 2009

hi jacque , get as many of the local kids/teenagers involved as you can,and plant a few fruit bushes , so they know if they look after them there will be a reward something to eat, to many flowers attract the wrong people for the wrong reasons ?, if you can involve the whole community fingers crossed it will police itself ,anyway lots of luck with the project , if you like i can post you some bareroot raspberry canes , 1year old blackcurrant slips , and a couple of 1year gooseberry slips FOC , to help your project

16 Dec, 2009

im sure ur all rite about getting more Youngsters involved & Planting fruit il keep in mind VineM as a Apple Orhid is Planned 4 early next yr in this same area ! some Raspberrys may be a nice idea ? i do plan on getting more involved with the Commuity so maybe i could teach some cooking & learn more myself ;)

16 Dec, 2009

Hello Jacque

I can donate some wild primroses for your communal garden, let me know if you want some and i'll post them.

You go for it girl but try to get everyone involved or as many as you can, there will be negative comments on the way like "i haven't got time etc" or "I have a bad back" , all of us can say those sort of comments but we can all find time to do the things that we really want to do in life, if everyone wants the area to look nice then everyone must be involved, it's only fair!

I hope all goes well, I may have a few packets of seeds for you if you need them.

18 Dec, 2009

We shouldn't be put off by the threat of vandalism , there are ways around it and that is involving the younger community so their less likely to wreck it!

Why do we always deny ourselves life's pleasures for the fear of things being ruined? it's like we let the hooligans and wreckers win all the time! it's so sad!

18 Dec, 2009

Hi Micky thanx 4 your comments il keep in mind your lovely offers of Seeds/Primeroses Jacx

18 Dec, 2009

This is a fantastic project and I wish you great joy in its planning, organization and delivery. I'm sure that you and neighbours of all ages will enjoy it. Well done for taking it on!

21 Dec, 2009
