A lovely morning in October

I would like to invite you for a nice stroll along the coast between Portmarnock and Malahide in north Co Dublin.

It’s a five minute drive from my home to Portmarnock beach. The beach is about 1 mile long and it is very safe for children and bathers.

As we start your stroll you can see two young sea anglers fishing off the rocks.

Among the rocks you can find shellfish and crabs.

The Martello towers were built all around the coast during the Napoleon wars for protection of an invasion. This one was turned into a family home. What a lovely place to live with those lovely views of the bay.

There are a lot of seabirds feeding along the shore. Which is good for the bird watchers.

In the distance you will see Lambay Island, it is about a half mile from shore. It is privately owned, there is no public allowed, what a pity. I am sure it would be a lovely place to visit.

Another Island in Dublin bay is called Ireland’s Eye, but locals call it the sleeping man. If you look carefully you can see the shape of a man. The platform you see is used by sea anglers but also by some brave swimmers, men and women.

The tide coming in over the rocks, see how smooth they are.

I will finish with a view of Dublin bay.

Well I hope you enjoyed that little stroll between Portmarnock and Malahide.

Looks an absolutly wonderful place johnjoe, nothing better than a " bracing walk " along the sea shore. I'm afraid the nearest thing to us is the bank of the River Thames, but that has improved a lot over the last few years. Like the picture of the sleeping man. :o))
