Hello from Slovakia

My dear friends on GoY,
I know, that you all are busy in your gardens as the season is in full swing. I would like to show you, what is going on here.
We had really English weather here for about month. It was raining and at the end even windy. For gardeners it was blessing, as this winter was without snow and plants and trees could suffer in hot summers we have here. So for them it certainly was a blessing. I saw it on my rhododendrons. This is Albrook.
Viburnum opulus was also doing better this year then last time.
Rains partly caused floods in the eastern parts of Slovakia. Partly I say because mostly it is caued by erosions in this territory, which is caused by woodcutting. This is donated by government and eurodotations. Destruction of forests led to wide erosions of slopes in hills, it looks like a Moon surface, disaster, and causes rapid runoff of the rain water into valleys.
At the moment petition is going on all over Slovakia against “industrialists”, who based their business on wooodcutting of woods.
OK, back to the garden. This is view on my mediterranean garden. Winds slapped cedar tree Totem, I will have to fix and secure it. By the way, it comes from Tuscany and has wonderful cedar perfume after rains. Altogether with lavenders it creates a new Chanel :-)
Cystisus scoparius is blooming for a month now.
Finally, season of roses has started. Eden rose,
…this rose climbs hight to the treetop and so my Tamaris (?) will soon look like a rose tree. I like it.
And Waltz Time rose, which has strange silver lilac colour.
Rose Maria Henrieta from Kordes. Smells so nice.
OK, I have to hurry as Noris needs his morning walk. Have a nice day and I will upload some more photos in a weekend.

Lovely to see your garden and all your roses Katarina! Hope the 'British' weather doesn't return! We had a Slovakian day yesterday, but today is looking very, very Scottish! ;)

Beautiful roses, they have obviously enjoyed the rain and don't seem damaged by the wind.
Your season must be a bit ahead of England and our roses are not in flower yet, though they are not far away from their display.
The destruction of the forests is a sin and legalised rape of the planet. It seems that the Companies and the Governments that allow it, care only for immediate gain on the knowledge that their generation won't be the people who have to clear it up or live without the animals, plants and insects that depend on the resource.
Nor do they care about the landslides and loss of topsoil on the slopes, meaning no other plants have the chance to colonise the empty space. It's a sad world out there, all in the name of profit!
Us gardeners have a small but important role to play by providing some refuge to plants and insects, we can't save the World, but we can try!

It seems that the destruction of our forests is going on everywhere and all due to greed.
Your roses look beautiful as do the lavenders surrounding the Cedar. Your garden looks a very relaxed and calming space.

Tamarix?
destruction as you describe is happening everywhere, we're gardeners and understand the relationship of plants to the enviroment and wildlife beit on a smaller scale I only wish government leaders were gardeners.........
