The day before Winter.

Decided to tidy a little on Saturday, November 30th, in my little back garden.
All wrapped up warm, ready to pick up all the fallen leaves.
I thought about using my sucker/blower, but decided to do it the old fashioned way. Those little acer leaves really do get into every tiny spot, between cobbles, gravel and corners.
I did sweep the steps at the back which are at the bottom of the bund..lots of seed drop on the top step from one of the feeders. Oh, the rain really makes it a right thick pudding. Lovely…not.
Patio areas and around the pond all swept and cleared. Didn’t take too long as it’s a small area. Stopped several times to take a few pics, many were deleted. What I see with my naked eye often looks better than the photo taken.
Toby, our neighbours cat from several houses away, popped round to observe my tidying skills. He became bored rapidly and headed into our house for some snacks and a snooze..
Front garden need little care. Hedging, evergreens, cobbles and a very small patch of lawn..very small..
Tried to take some photos of visiting birds on the nut and seed feeders, to no avail.. I really needed to have more time and have more patience. I deferred to another day.

Hi Kate, this just proves that you don't always need flowers, to have colour in your garden, Derek.

The Acer leaves are really beautiful! Shame to sweep
them up really (any excuse!)

Thanks Derek, I have to agree. We have so much colour and interest in the garden all year round!

Sue, thank you! I felt like I should have left the leaves as they do look pretty, but, another job we must do every autumn, another routine we have.

I just love the photos you have added here. Pretty shapes and lots of lovely colours.
The acer leaves against that vivid blue sky look gorgeous.

Those are lovely and interesting photos Kate! Well done. It takes so much effort to get those leaves up doesn’t it!

Wildrose, thank you. I didn’t even enhance the blue sky! Lucky timing that day.
Julia, thank you that’s really kind. Feel quite chuffed now. I loved the watering can pic, I was lucky the focus hit the centre.
Karen, thanks, appreciate the feedback. I know, it can be hard work and it seems endless when you’re doing it!
Aleyna, much appreciated, thank you!
Eileen, thanks kindly for your comment. I’m pleased you liked the blog and pics.

I really enjoyed your blog, and the very arty photography, not easy in a small garden is it ?....as you say what you observe the camera doesn't always appear to do it justice, I delete hundreds..( a slight exaggeration !!!! (✷‿✷)) I find our miniscule front garden a nightmare to photograph!

Thanks Dd. I agree, having a small garden can be quite challenging, sometimes more than a larger garden.
I just wish it was much bigger! I often delete a lot of pics too, the camera doesn’t quite capture what we really want it too! :)

You have an eye for photography Kate, great pictures. I consider raking as good exercise for the stomach muscles haha. Sounds like Toby has a second home at yours :-)

Thank you Dawn, I’m quite chuffed by your kind comment.
I think I have to agree, gardening definitely works all the muscle groups!!!
Yes, Toby sees us as a home away from home..he’s here this evening, spread out in front of the log burner...:)

Thanks kindly, Hywel. Trying to keep on top of the fallen leaves like a lot of you all are..saying that, it’ll be another round of picking up leaves this weekend.
Thanks again:)

Just found this blog Kate and thought I would look at some of your others. We moved last year and needed to use my lawn hoover/blower and for some reason didn't make it here when we moved and have only recently just missed it, so back to raking it all up again !
Happy Christmas to you and yours !

Thanks Rose, I would miss the leaf blower too! It’s hard work isn’t it! Fortunately, our back garden isn’t too big, although, the day after my “manual” leaf pick up, OH went out with the blower to get the rest!
I wish you and your family a lovely, happy Christmas too! Best of health for the New Year xx
