Passing through pretty places.

I’m very fortunate that while I am travelling from one place to another, I get the chance to snap a few lovely sights on the way..
During these times, amid the covid, it’s so uplifting to be able to just admire the countryside and the gardens en route to the next destination. It’s quite nice to just stop, take a breather, and enjoy other people’s pretty blooms, evergreen hedging and verdant planting.
It’s been a warm, lovely day. Blue skies and a hint of summer.

Passing such restful pretty places must help you to arrive with your patients looking relaxed and cheerful, which is good medicine in itself! Loved the field of blue Phacelia . Had one appear in our garden once and it took ages to find out what it was! Blue sky and strawberries - what's not to love?

It's nice to be living in such a beautiful area and able to travel around with your work. It makes it more bearable when one has pleasant surroundings :)

It's a super set of photos. I think we all appreciate those "chocolate box" scenes when we go out, shame we can do so little of it at the moment, so thank you for sharing what you see while you are doing very important work.

Lovely photos Kate. I guess we all love seeing others’ gardens, and twenty years ago I started a group for people to do just that. Taking it in turns to host, it would have been my turn today (normally a crowd of about 15 for coffee and cake). But I couldn’t resist inviting two members: we kept at a distance, had a lovely chat, and they cheered me by admiring everything!
Keep safe. x

I loved touring the English Countryside when I visited the UK. The people I visited were so warm and friendly and absolutely delightful welcoming me into their homes. Everybody had a story to tell and everybody offered me a bath. Is that how they show hospitality? Have a bath! I must of had 6 or 7 baths that day. I thought it was customary or something. My fingers looked like wrinkled prunes. They were so friendly. I remember the cottages and homesteads, windmills, rolling green hills, tea gardens, etc.

Lol Bathgate - I don't think baths are standard. I never heard of anybody being offered one before. Maybe you were looking very hot and sticky that day! Which part(s) of the country did you visit? You certainly don't find windmills in many places (except for wind turbines these days)
Are you planning to visit again?

Sue - I stayed with my friend in Rochester near Leeds. He took me around. The windmill may have been defunct. Yeh I was bath hopping that day. These people live way out in the boonies in isolated cottages and farmsteads. The bath came with every amenity imaginable - books, pillows, all kinds of soaps, lotions, music. One older couple had an infatuation with clocks - the mechanical type. They had hundreds of clocks in their tiny cottage on every table and surface. Then it struck 11 O'clock and I nearly went deaf from all the cuckoos, ding dongs & Westminster chimes, etc. For them it was music. They were so cute boasting about their clocks.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely, kind comments! I’ve been working the past couple of days, catching up with office work/blood results/documentation/networking - the usual, plus today I’ve been back traversing the Lincolnshire countryside. I’ve been in full PPE, which is hot but keeps us all safe!
The blog pics are Winteringham and then I stopped to take a pic of the meadow en route to Scunthorpe.
Today, I was on the old roman road in Lincolnshire A15..driving through the countryside again. Such a lucky person am I! Out again tomorrow!!
Paul, I have to say, the offer of baths is quite unusual! Sounded like a relaxing experience though, with all the books and comforting pillows! Most windmills are defunct now, there are a few in Lincolnshire and one near Eileen in her part of East Yorkshire.
I’m pretty sure your friends enjoyed your garden, Sheila! Sounds a nice little get together! Xx

Paul, the nearest windmill to us is now a rather posh restaurant
I couldn't rind a Rochester anywhere near Leeds though there is one up in Northumberland and another down in the south. Anyway I'm glad you enjoyed it- sounds delightful, especially the clock collectors!
Kate you are one of the stalwarts we have all been admiring - more power to your elbow! This was a lovely blog.

I think it was Leeds castle in Kent which is actually where I stayed. Rochester was another place we visited, lol it was a while ago. We had dinner in an old monastery, but I really like those tea gardens with all the fixings and pretty ladies dressed to the 9s.

lovely photos Kate with some great weather to go with it, I have worked out of Grimsby quite a bit and there are some beautiful places around there once you get into the Lincolnshire countryside.

Thank you Stroller, I appreciate your lovely comment! Yes, it is quite stressful at times, some days it can be quite a trial. I’m off now until Monday, time to recharge and do,lots of therapeutic gardening! :-)

Aw thanks Davey, it’s been a lovely week weather wise which makes the travelling even more enjoyable! Our team cover a big geographical area, one of my colleagues covers Grimsby and right down to Mablethorpe - she lives in East Yorkshire too. I haven’t been that way for a while..we often help each other during holidays and perhaps if someone is ill. Grimsby has such a big fishing history as does Hull.
I agree, some really lovely chocolate box villages..

I thought it looked familiar I used to live in Winteringham.
It is a lovely village. Sweet memories.

That’s right Marjorie! I remember you said you lived there. Lovely place isn’t it!

Lovely blog and photo's Kate, some people have the misconception that Lincolnshire is all flat and boring, we know different and your photo's show how pretty some of the villages are....Y
You are doing a sterling job, I know it can't be easy for you and your colleagues, my son works at an old folks complex in Boston and its been very stressful for them, stay safe Kate..
