A few garden pics in mid August.

I’ve neglected the garden a bit this summer. Between building work, family visiting, my job, a little holiday and feeling under the weather…
We’ve had no rain for goodness knows how long. We’re out with the hose most days.
We popped to a couple of good GC’c today, but, I just couldn’t see any geraniums, the annual variety, just to add some colour for the remainder of the season into early Autumn.
I suggested B & Q, as I’d picked up several bedding plants last week, and the quality was pretty good too.
I got my few geraniums and another dahlia.
OH picked a dahlia too, the dark stemmed/leaf variety with a deep pink flower.
It took a little while, as all the dahlias had sleepy bees sat on them! It was so sweet…every one of them had at least 2 bees happily resting there.
Hoping that’s a good sign! We want lots of bees don’t we!
OH discovered on one of our cctv cameras, we have a hedgehog visiting now! At last! We haven’t had one for 2 or 3 years. Anyway, at one side of our house, he or she has dug themselves a little pathway under the gate.
So, it’s hog one side and a friendly cat jumping over the gate at the other side of the house! Eve not too happy..
Happy we have a hedgehog and a frog now..
Sounds like an idea for children’s book

Lovely purchases Kate, and great news about your hedgehog! We used to see them regularly in our previous garden, but never here. What a delightful treat for you 🙂.

Thanks so much, Sheila 😊
I'm going to pick up a few more plants tomorrow hopefully.
Yes, I'm tickled pink to have a hedgehog visiting again! I'm hoping to catch him/her myself.

When we had our garden gate replaced we had the new one cut higher and the hogs use that for entry to our garden. Small adjustments make all the difference to them. Another idea is to cut out a small lower section of fencing so they can cut through from one garden to the next without hindrance. We also leave out the leftover cat food scraps at night and we have 2 regular visitors. You will become attached to your little visitor!
Pink is obviously your colour this year, Kate - pretty in pink!

You still have some lovely colour there Kate.
It's great you have a hedgehog and a frog too!
I did find droppings once which I know where from a hedgehog but have never seen it.
The last two years, my friend gave me frogspawn for my little pond, but after developing into little tadpoles, I never saw them again and wonder if a cat or fox having a drink and got them.

Lucky you, to have a hedgehog. I haven’t even seen one anywhere for years. Good idea to buy some Dahlias for some late colour. Ty for putting a photo of Eve on. First time I’ve seen her!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments!!! Apologies my reply is late, I've had such a hectic 2 weeks at work..
Callie, yep, it's a salvia.
Rose, we introduced frogspawn years ago and our fish ate the lot!
Ange, the lengths we go to for our special visitors! Pink is definitely my choice of colour this year!
Julia, a badger, crikey!!! I don't envisage ever seeing one in our garden..is it still visiting?
Thanks again, everyone x
