Yes I haven’t dropped in for awhile…Have had more bad luck with my garden this year than good. So nothing to show off there. I used to be able to get just about anything to grow now it seems like I look at it and it turns brown.
I know it isn’t really that way but I have had better years.
This year I had my own personal NIMH (rat invasion for those who don’t know about the book “The Secrete of NIMH.”) But instead of a rose bush one chose my tomatos to dig under(not a single tomato this year). I rid my yard of 22 of those pests over the summer and I’m still not sure I got them all.
We just resently adopted a new member of the family…Meet Einstein the Harlequin Great Dane
And of course Molly is very happy about the new friend to play with.
Yes…we even have Einstein’s infant picture (the owner of the parents was kind enough to send)
I also became grandma for the 3rd time September 4th…Aaron and Johnnie now have a baby sister Alyssa.
This summer Aaron and Johnnie found the water hose at Great Grandma and Grandpa’s house….
They were having lots of fun…UNTIL!!!
Then grandma walked past the water spigot…Aaron used up all the water…no more would come out.
Johnnie did dry off and we talk about the pictures often “Johnnie Laughing” “Johnnie crying”
So I would have to say, the garden I am having more luck with is the two legged variety of flower AKA grandchildren and the 4 legged variety AKA pets.
will be potting my amaryllis this weekend.
Hope you all have had better luck with plants this year than I have.
Happy gardening.

Welcome back, KM! Shame to hear about your problems with the rats, I just hope you have got over it now!
Congratulations on becoming a grandma again! :-)) We also expect to be grandparents for the 2nd time before the year is out!
Good to hear you are going to plant your Amaryllis this weekend! Have they had a few weeks of cold? They really need a cold period before they flower.
I planted mine up a few weeks ago. Had no choice as they had spent all summer in the ground in the allotment. As it was I got them all planted up just a few days before the 1st frost of the autumn made an appearance! Gerry warned me that the allotment was a frost pocket being it's lower than the surrounding land. Fortunately I took notice of what he said & as a result didn't lose any to frost damage! :-))
I did however lose quite a few due to some bug tunnelling into the bulbs & eating the interior. :-(( All those I found I had to throw away. I just hope I got them all & don't have it still amongst all the pots I have.

lol...Kim...I'm new to GoY (just a couple of months) so I won't know you from your past on GoY....but you gave me a laugh with your comment repeats! lol
Your new grandaughter is a beauty and the two boys playing with the hose were a delight to see in your photos. In the heat of summer a hose always causes kids to have such fun, until they bump one another or the water runs out!
Still worth getting the hose out though :)
Wishing you luck with your amaryllis and your garden come spring. I'm a beginner so just getting started and so looking forward to spring.

Don't worry about the "reruns" it happens to all of us from time to time!

Oh no, ratties......I could ship you over an excellent hunting Jack Russell Terrier K!! Better still, save yourself the shipping cost and go and get one for yourself.....you've already got 2, would another one hurt? lol...only kidding!

What a time you've been having! Love the children; love the dogs - what a madhouse it will be when they all get together!
