Fukushima sunflowers-inspired by katarina

i was browsing through katarinas photos when i came across the pic of the huge sunflower in austria.
i had to google Fukushima and couldn’t believe id never heard of this disaster! i found this page, note the 3rd comment at the bottom from wolf32

i know hywel it awful isnt it. just removing the topsoil would have worked almost completely. why dint scientist tell them this before yet some others experimented just for the sake of it ???
