MY GARDENS AND ME

I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST WRITE ABOUT MY GARDENS IN GENERAL, AS I TEND TO PUBLISH PICTURES OF PLANTS AND NOT THE GARDENS. THIS IS PARTLY BECAUSE THE FRONT GARDEN WHICH IS SOUTH WEST FACING, IS THE MAIN GARDEN AND THE BACK GARDEN WHICH IS NORTH EAST FACING IS WHERE I HAD THE VEGETABLE AND FRUIT GARDEN, WHICH IS NOW THE WILDLIFE GARDEN WITH A DEEP RAISED BED FOR A FEW VEGGIES.
THE FRONT GARDEN OPENS STRAIGHT ONTO THE PAVEMENT AND ROAD, SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO TAKE PICTURES MOST OF THE TIME UNLESS YOU WANT SOMEBODY’S CAR IN THE BACKGROUND. THE BACK GARDEN HAS NO ENTRANCE FROM THE BACK OF MY FLAT, YOU HAVE TO WALK AROUND THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING TO GET THERE.HAVING SAID ALL THIS I AM VERY HAPPY LIVING WHERE I DO AND I HAVE THE BEST GARDENS .
THE SOIL IS SANDY LOAM SO IT IS MUCH EASIER TO WORK THAN THE HEAVY CLAY I HAD IN MY GARDEN IN HASTINGS. WHEN I FIRST MOVED HERE FIVE YEARS AGO I COULD ONLY AFFORD A FEW PACKETS OF SEED AND APART FROM A COUPLE OF DEAD CHEAP ROSES, MADE THE BACKBONE OF THE GARDENS I HAVE TODAY.
I HAVE A SIDE GARDEN WHICH WAS VERY OVERGROWN, IT HAS A VERY LARGE CONIFER IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, WHICH I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RAISE THE CROWN SOME WHAT, BUT I CANNOT GET RID OF IT, SO I GARDEN AROUND IT. I HOPE THIS IS READABLE, AS I AM NOT GOOD WITH WORDS, OWING TO A DISABILITY.

Very pretty but how do you manage to keep your green path through the garden. I thought lawn was bad enough to keep but your green path would worry me. You have lots of interest and colour just as you hoped last spring. That deep bed will take some filling unless you have lots of compost already made. Good luck with your wild garden idea.

Thanks for your interest people, I just keep trimming the path and don't find it troublesome, I don't think it stays green all year but it does look nice just now. I have managed to fill my deep bed with soil from parts of the garden, home made compost and then bought compost. I already have things planted and sown in it.

Thanks everyone, you are all very kind, my terracotta welly was a present from my son, unfortunately it got broken in transit and we had to stick it back together again, it has a pretty thyme planted in it.

lemondog your blog is lovely. As for your garden it is full of interest and lots of lovely colours. Had to laugh when I saw your green edging. I put that everywhere when I 1st started my garden, only a little bit of it left. I hope you can read this as it isn't in capitals. Let me know if you want me to change it Pauline
