Long week, long week..

I`ve had a particularly stressful week, my Dad was rushed into hospital on Monday evening, so Tuesday was stay near the phone and then over to the hospital, we`d already had a lousy weeekend as Brynner was poorly. Anyway Dad came home last night although has to go back early on Monday for more scans, its not looking good for him. This morning I took his washing up and spent a couple of hours with him and of course to make sure he was alright, then I did my own housework ,far too nice a day for being indoors and my mind was going off in all directions and needed occupying, so I took off down my garden. I`ve cleared most of my apples off my Worcester Pomaigne, a lot of them actually fell as I was picking them, its a shame they don`t store as I can only freeze a certain amount and I`ve already had to compost loads in the last few weeks, of course I have also given lots away so not all bad. Still couldn`t really settle myself so I decided" Sod It", I`ll do a bit of pruning and let some light in and around the tree, I`ve been up and down the ladder like a monkey, used all three sizes of loppers and took my moody temper out on my defenceless apple tree, then just to spite me the flipping line on my telescopic lopper snapped, I kid you not the air turned blue!!!! Of course I now can`t reach the top few branches until I get a new line but I am pleased with the look of the tree at the moment, I spent ages cutting the branches so they would go in my green bin. I`m pleased to say I worked myself into a far calmer mood, its been a beautiful day and I didn`t come inside until it was too dark to see what I was doing. A bit of hard work doing what I like has worked wonders and I`ve stopped driving myself up the wall…. Sorry no pics as it was too dark….

Glad you found a way to 'tame' your mind :) Feel a bit bad for the apple tree though until pics are posted to prove she is ok :):)

Sorry Dad's poorly, hope everything's OK. I too, find solace working in the garden. I think it's because I can be on my own in the quiet and just think everything through.

I know how difficult it is to turn your mind to other things when your father is ill. It's something I went through in January.

Gardening is a great therapy and far more effective than taking pills.

Hope that your father is feeling better, and that Brynner is back to his bouncy self.

Take Care, thinking of you at this very stressful time.

Where would we be without our gardens both to take our minds off things and also to vent our feelings like you did Sue. I'm glad it made you feel calmer and I'm sure your garden is all the better for it too. I hope the news for your dad isn't as bad as you fear and that Brynner has perked up too. :o))

Thankyou all, Dad is happier now he`s back at home, he is however 87 yrs old and actually is being quite matter of fact about his situation, he told the doctor he wasn`t afraid of dying only of pain, he can be very blunt sometimes...
Pleased to say Brynner is nearly back to normal, bit thinner and being very fussy about his food, like a child he takes advantage when he thinks he needs spoiling, lol...

How good that your Dad can look at his situation in that way,Linclass, and that he is still in his own home..I think we would all wish for that.Glad to hear Brynner is on the mend...take care..xx

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad Lincs, these situations come up all too often don't they, and your heart just falls into your boots. You're doing the right to get out into the garden, it's the best place to calm the 'monkey brain' and just lose yourself in one activity until you feel better. I did laugh though at you losing the plot when the line on your lopper broke! The last straw, wasn't it? I'm so glad your Dad got to get home, mine didn't, and we were sad about that, but events will run their course whatever that may be. Just know I'm thinking about you and your Dad and sending you both positive thoughts, and hugs, xx
