Burghley Park in Winter..

When we got up this morning a mega thaw had started and my daughter was able to get her car out…Hooray… So dressed warmly with our camera`s and Brynner we drove to our local, very beautiful ( in my opinion) treasure… Burghley Park….

Quite a lot of other people had the same idea and were making the most of it, as you can see some had their sleds..

They describe her as the Grandest Elizabethan House in the country and I know I`m biased but I do agree..

The next two were taken from the bridge over the lake ,it is there but as you can see has frozen over…..

This tree really stood out today…….

Fingers and toes complaining and going numb so it`s about turn and head back to the car….

We weren`t there long but Oh It Was Grand…….

I've been there LL and I'll certainly agree with you, it is a fabulous place. I think I might have been delivering some stone. It must have been ten or twelve years ago now. I must say it looks even better in summer! Lol

Oh yes Ian, a summer evenings walk there is great, it`s a fantastic place both inside and out, your Holly would love the water gardens and the sculpture gardens are always a big hit with the children, then of course my favourite a wander around the rest of the garden`s, usually the park near the house has the deer roaming freely, some of which are quite tame and will eat out of your hands,it`s great.........

I think it's about time I paid the place another visit then Ll. I never really had much time the last time as I was delivering (I'm sure it was huge pieces of stone for masonry work) and only had fourty five minutes to look around (My brake time)

Looks like a great place to spent a few hours in the park! I find it strange to think that the deer are so tame they will eat out of your hand!

It really is a grand house with beautiful grounds - well it will be when the snow clears. I'm glad you think it's pretty and enjoyed your trip.

It certainly is a fabulous building and a lovely looking park. It is so good that now in this age it is open to the public to walk in. There are literally thousands of fantastic estates in Britain but when you consider they were built at a time when ordinary folk were literally starving, we have so much to be thankful for in 21st century.

We often go there as its on edge of town,..Balcony I know hubby has pics taken a couple of years back I`ll see if I can find some, actually we were disappointed that the deer weren`t about yesterday , I think perhaps they move them around the park occasionally to rest certain area`s......,

A grand house, fantastic pile, but the majesty of that one time lonely tree
calls to me.

Lovely photos and what a splendid house. I`ll bet it was freezing cold inside in the Winter back the days of the Tudors!
