Pitty your class will be finishing so soon. I should think the summer will provide you with plenty of flowers to carry on making arrangements on your own :o)

It has been great fun Sam....nice people....a bit like GoY.
It is silly really .....the class stops once the plants appear in the garden. In the winter you are limited to what you can get Hywel. The pale yellow roses were lovely Stroller....they kept it simple. Thanks Pixi, Dorjac, Brian, Pimpernel and Sue.

It feels good when you do a class in an art or craft you really wanted to have a go at and it turns out so well Linda.

That's a shame, Linda ... our daughter-in-law dropped out of a floristry apprenticeship halfway through ... poor pay and a six day week! ... :o(

Nice environment Shirley, but you have to be able to pay the bills. Our teacher says the apprentices in companies get all the hard work and the florist takes all the cash.

Being a long term, successful florist is not an easy skill to put into practice as a proprietor. The product is perishable and the business side is tricky. All of the florists round our area have gone, or opened up and not lasted for long. The supermarket's ready made offerings have scuppered them. It is even a problem where to go for wreaths now....donations are the new order.

Hi Dorjac....our teacher doesn't sell flowers, but she is kept very busy in the summer months doing flowers for weddings. She has been doing it for a long time and has built up a good reputation. She takes our class in the winter when things are quiet.
I agree running a florist shop with all its overheads would be very difficult. There are two near me however who seem to do very well.......they sell a better quality of flower that lasts longer!!!!
