Update on my Wisteria

Well hello everyone. Hope you’re all fit and well. Haven’t been on here for a while, but have been thinking of you all. To start off, my Mother-in-law who is 86 broke her hip in November, so time was taken up with her. She has had bouts of illnesses ever since, so we’ve all been running around for her. I’ve not been too well, like a lot of people, with these bugs and viruses going around. Then things started going wrong at home, such as things breaking down, including Hubbies computer. Truthfully, we needed cash for other things, so couldn’t afford to replace it right away. We then had visitors from Estonia staying for a while, so my time has not been my own for quite some time. I did log on a couple of days ago, and would you believe it! I couldn’t remember my password/user name. I knew the lindalooloo bit but couldn’t remember the other bit. hahaha. Had to wait for my Daughter to come and sort me out again. Anyway, regarding my non flowering Wisteria. I went out and cut back all the sprigs that were everywhere in August/September. Then in February, with Ray and Janes’ instructions in my head, I cut back as far as I thought was correct, but left 3 sprigs across the top of the trellis. I don’t know if I’ve done it correctly, as by now I’ve usually got sprouts and shoots everywhere, but at the moment, it’s not showing any sign of life. I can’t remember if it was you Amy, that said you’d cut yours back severely and shocked it into flowering? Usually I have so many shoots at this time of year, I’m not sure if this is the normal way it should be. I spoke to my Son-in-laws Mum, who is a very keen and avid gardener, and she asked me if I had checked the trunk, to make sure it WAS still alive. I did so by giving it a bit of scrape, and yes, it is still green under the bark. Trouble is, I’m not used to seeing it like this, so not sure if it is ok or not. This is the first time in approximately 7/8yrs, I’ve been able to view the whole of my garden from my kitchen window, and it’s amazing how much lighter my kitchen has become. hahaha.
Now you see it……
Now you don’t……

I also gave my Honeysuckle a haircut. The leaves you see on the left of the pictures is the Honeysuckle, which has merrily began to shoot. Fingers crossed Wisteria will be ok. Maybe I’m just being too anxious, as they are suppose to be in flower May, and it just loks so bare at the moment. Oh well, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll keep you updated.

Good to see you back Linda, you do seem to have had a busy time and your share of problems too, hope everything starts to improve for you [Im always forgetting passwords, have them written down in a secret place, hope I dont forget where the secret place is lol] I do hope your Wisteria survives , I have a few shrubs and plants that are normally showing growth by now but look dead, giving them until the end of the month hopefully they will be starting to regrow then, good luck with yours;0)

Hi, and thanks Grandmage and Pansy. The end of last year was dreadful and the beginning of this year didn't seem to be much better, but Spring is here and while the sun is shining we'll all feel better. Having said that, me and hubby thought we'd make the most of the sunshine on Monday, and decided to take Mali for a walk down the Gower. As Hubby walked ahead with the dog, I stopped to zip my coat up and pull my hood up, as it was quite windy on top of the cliffs. As I started to catch him up, I decided to say 'hello' and 'kiss' the grass. Hubby heard the 'thud' looked around to find me face down on the ground, and as he put it (looking like a sea lion basking in the sun). He said, the fact my hood was black and my arms were down by my side, I looked so funny laying there. It's a good job I've got a sense of humour, because I started to laugh so much I couldn't get up. hahahahehehe. As for my Wisteria, only time will tell, I think. Most of the other shrubs are sprouting nicely, so I think it will be ok. I just can't wait to see it in flower, as I've waited so long. :O))

Oh Llooloo, hope you are Ok. Hopefully only bruised!! Good job you laughed, my hubbie always says 'helpful' things like yours, not much help when you are sprawled on the floor, but then you can see the funny side of things!

Thankyou TT. I've just gone out to inspect it, and hip hip hooray, I found a bud on one of the branches going across the top of the trellis, so all being well, I might be lucky and have more coming out.
