Butterflies

This morning I was cutting back the mahonia Charity which had put on loads of growth and a few other shrubs and just lovely to see a few butterflies around – two small tortoiseshell and two Brimstone. The Brimstone have been around for the last three days – probably the warm sunshine is bringing them out.

Yeah nice to see them I've seen a few tortoiseshells and some peacocks today, Roy.

I was back in garden this afternoon and saw a tortoiseshell chasing one of the Brimstones! Today also saw the red legged Kite hovering directly above me! We have only one around which one or two neighbours also see from time to time. Its forked tail is quite distinctive.
Roy Great to see a Peacock- amazing what a warm sunny day can do.
Stera I read once that the orangetips enjoy the hedge garlic (garlic mustard)so I leave plenty in a corner at the end of garden. I haven't tried eating any yet but maybe this year.

Lovely - I've only ever seen one brimstone. We do get orange tips sometimes in early spring but nothing so far.
