SUNDAY 12 TH SEPTEMBER

My new greenhouse has been completed since the end of March, and been well used this year. However, I decided a while back that there would be a GRAND OPENING.
Call me silly, stupid or whatever, if its good enough for any major establishment to have an excuse for a celebration, then its good enough for me!
So, I put my mind to the test and thought, who can I invite to perform this prestigious task.
Cliff was’nt available, he’s stuck in Portugal or something, Elton is busy in L.A., Alan was too busy deadheading and Carol was fulfilling a previous engagement with a national broadcaster. So I gave Tone a ring, he said he had a book signing appointment, but he was willing to cancel if I provided him with some hay fever tablets, bloody cheek, I thought, so he went out the window as well.
Then it came to me. Holly.
Now , Holly is a special girl to her mummy and daddy because she’s an IVF child. Parents Danny and Karen had been trying for years, and my heart goes out to everyone in the same situation.
Holly is now 5 years old and I couldn’t have chosen a better celebrity.
Oh, I nearly forgot, it was also my OH, Julies big five O.
I didn’t choose Julie for the opening because I knew she would be too busy going and fetching all the guests food and drink.

So the scene is set. Gazebo up, balloons up, tables ready, and the all important ribbon placed around the new greenhouse.

The cats were set. This is Ollie and Bollie, Levi obviously sensed something was coming down and decided to visit his fellow felines for the day.

Going back to the greenhouse , I hope you noticed my allegiance to a certain football team, a present from OH on my big 50. But I’m digressing.
So, the barbie was lit, all the grub put on, ( well not all of it, I was actually cooking from 1pm till 5pm), Gordon eat your heart out.

Thought I’d better take a photo of Julie before the off, been married 28 years this year, I think I know why.

Had a few party game’s, a bit of cheating going on, when I decided to turn the donkey upside down. ( and I drew the donkey myself ).

Time to slip in a few begonias. Grew these from plugs.

More party games, musical chairs.

And then the BIG moment came.
Music off, everybody quiet.
THE GRAND OPENING
Just at this moment, somebody said to me, " Don’t forget it’s Julie’ 50Th".
So , I decided to let them all sing happy birthday and gave her my present ( A week away, Majorca, all inclusive, me included, in 2 weeks time.).
Now back to the serious business.
Holly step up.

The ribbon was cut.

The greenhouse was now officially open.
I presented Holly with a certificate and a bunch of flowers, she was a star.

There was of course another star, Julie.
We had a great weekend, hope you did too. Also hope you enjoyed ours.
