Calling all clematis lovers !!!

4 days ago i was searching a particular clematis and ‘Choice Clematis’ nursery in Taunton popped up, i looked further and immediately made and placed an order !
The goods have arrived today (Thursday) and it’s prompted me to write this blog.

What a very good company/business/nursery this is …..
Their prices are a fraction of what i pay in the nearby garden centres and, the plants are twice as good.
In the GCs you’ll pay about £13, roughly, for a plant that’s about 3-4’ high and it’ll have 2 stems if you’re lucky, with this company the same plant (actually 2 or 3 stems) is about £8-9 ….. which is a good difference if you buy these plants regularly.

I was also very impressed with the packaging, buying quite a lot from online nurseries means i see various methods but this was ingenious and ensured that each plant was perfect – there wasn’t a single bit of damage anywhere.

All in all, an online experience that i would definately recommend.
Here are some pictures.

The parcel !

The 3 plants placed infront of the shrubs, you can’t see their foliage but you ‘can’ see their height. C. florida ‘Sieboldii, ’Pistachio’ and Belle of Woking’

You can see the flowers on this one (Belle of Woking)

Florida sieboldii, is a great clematis I have just counted 10 flower buds on mine this year so far.
If you like clematis try and locate this GOY memember, he hasnt been that active of late on here but you can follow a link to his own web site which is in Japanese as well as English.
Tsuyoshis
He loves and knows everything there is to know about clematis, and yes youve guessed it he is in Japan.

Thanks Louise! Must say I have never been disappointed with Taylors, although some of their plants are a bit pricey but they also have special offers and their plants come beautifully packed and very mature. The Ooh La La I bought recently has about 15 flower buds on. I'll have a look at your nursery as well though...never can resist a clematis nursery! :)

That's good news - thanks.

I'll have to have a look at this site too. A lot of clematis you buy on line are plugs and about 2" high, and it takes a few years to get to flowering height. These plants will give you some pleasure this year Louise....look forward to the pics. Seboldei will do well where you are; they like it a bit warmer than some areas.......Mine have been known to struggle a bit...lol

Is it Clem A tis or is it Clem a tis? I hear it pronounced both ways all the time.

29 May, 2010

Its all down to preference I say the "second" way.....but either is right.....Whats in a name Eh?....lol
