afternoon all.

and must say its another sunny day in liverpool, and im off work so another day of pottering around for me.

ok, so tuesday morning is my food shop day…hit the shops(morrisons) nice and early to avoid the post school rush …they had so many bedding plants set out, how could i just walk past them when i have the gardening bug???

anyway, lets just say i came out with a trolley full of plants and not much food…beans on toast for a few days wont kill us :)

Food for the soul is just as important lpooldarlin. Welcome to Goy. I can see you have a couple of Hydrangeas there, when you place them remember they will be colourful from now till the first frosts and then they will be naked until next spring. You should aim for a background of evergreen plants so that the garden always looks furnished. You want a bit of height and maybe some ground hugging plants which are everg. Do look at the height in 10 years which is the yardstick most labels give and plant your plants with enough room to allow those expensive plants to be all they can be. In between plant annuals or cheap perennials, Morrisons is great for those and you will soon see where it is going. In the autumn you can start refining your design with bulbs etc which will give you a spring show before the hydrangea etc start to flower. Best of luck in the competition. We look forward to seeing lots of development photos.

I also shop at Morrisons so I always have a plant or two in my trolley, they are allways in good condition and the small perrenials grow on just fine. Two that I have bought that are still going strong are a Malva Musk Mallow and a Lythrum.

Sounds like you are lucky to have Morrisons. Tesco always fry their plants under the lights here and then dont bother to water them. Having said that I bought a rose from a supermarket and it was my best buy ever - well worth it!

Your plants look great - it will be good to see them all planted.
