Hope I won’t get into trouble for this…..eek! But their has been interest shown in how to make mosaics and how they grow into the finished pieces of art!
So, before my glass cutting, aching finger falls off!! here are a few pics!………

And……….at last finished Stag. The most difficult one to date!

Fairy now grouted too….

All the bits of glass!!!!

Here are a couple of close ups of detail which doesn’t show up too well in the pics

And here’s my boy again!

And Milliepuss, guardian of the studio! Who sometimes bites a scratches as I pass by, little devil!

You won`t get into trouble Lulu, just add a line to say what you are doing whilst admiring your garden through the window,LOL..
That stag is amazing and I now understand the other blog, I`ve already said I haven`t got the patience or skill to do work like that but I do appreciate seeing other peoples creations all the intricate detail, do you draw the design first?
Its lovely, well done you....

21 Sep, 2011

Beautiful Lu. I so love the art deco trees in your stag design!!

21 Sep, 2011

Thanks so much, yes the detail is art deco!!
Fingers better after a mega nurofen!!
Millie says......oh sorry, can't repeat what she said, naughty feral feline!

they are really lovely Lou. well done,

love the antlers...the way they look like tree branches! I've just been playing with arranging my seaglass. I think I have an idea now of how to go with the colours and design....but I need a few more dark pieces.

i think this is the site nana d uses karen

21 Sep, 2011

Oooh, thanks a lot Sticki!

21 Sep, 2011

:-)

21 Sep, 2011

When you finished grouting the piece Karen, try to wipe off as much grout as you can from the glass, or else its a bugger to do when dry!!

21 Sep, 2011

All the pieces I will use will be off the beach...there's something important to me about it all being naturally sea-washed..every piece from Carnoustie beach and picked up by me....weird I know...I like to make life difficult for myself! lol :))

21 Sep, 2011

no i think its nice [perhaps its called organic???]

21 Sep, 2011

What colours do you need to find. At least that nutty pooch will get loads of excersise while you search!

21 Sep, 2011

perhaps you could make a driftwood frame karen ~ you know the sort where they stick all the pieces together???

21 Sep, 2011

Grrr....that 'nutty pooch' only rolls around in rotting crab as soon as I put my face to the pebbles!! You should see her...and smell her more to the point!! Sticki, that's a good idea. I shall have to find some driftwood as well!

21 Sep, 2011

i shall be awaiting the photo!!!
i hope the Tate has space ready!!

21 Sep, 2011

nice blog..

what do you mount them on?

21 Sep, 2011

i think lulu has this one on wood skip.
but you can use slate too.

21 Sep, 2011

Yep, it's ply! Slate would be too heavy I think for an inside wall.
Hey Skips, I'll swap one for a wee timber house!! Oh I wish!
Yuck Karen, crabby terrier!!

21 Sep, 2011

I know. She's a horrid dog! ;) I think I shall use board and edge it with driftwood if I can find some!

21 Sep, 2011

Why would you get into trouble Lulu - there's plenty of us interested!!

21 Sep, 2011

Fabulous Stag, well done Lulu.
I see Miss Milliepuss is giving you the evil eye ! :0))
She's like "Waddya lookin at ? "

21 Sep, 2011

Wow, thats just beautiful Lulu, love it, you're soooo clever:-)

21 Sep, 2011

Sheilar, it's just that I haven't put many garden pics up lately (mainly because it looks so ragged!)
Thanks val and Simbad, I think he's one of my best so far!! 58 mosaics for the show and still time to make more!

22 Sep, 2011

It's not only for gardening though is it? it's for anything that anyone else is interested in and we clearly are interested in your mosaics:o)))

22 Sep, 2011

Thanks Sheilar, wasn't quite sure what was in the GoY 'guidlines'!!

22 Sep, 2011

That's brilliant :o) and I'm glad your studio is well guarded lol

Oh seeing these has made me want to get on with my pottery and sketches :o( I can't get round to it.

22 Sep, 2011

Hi Lulu, they are beautiful, realy well done.:)

22 Sep, 2011

Hywel, Millie refuses to leave the chair come wind, rain or sun!
Thanks Cmsue!

22 Sep, 2011

Lulu, I really do admire your skill and patience with your fabulous mosaics ... I love the different shades of grren in the stag mosaic ... Milliepuss definitely had her grumpy face on ... lol! . . . .

23 Sep, 2011

Hi Lulu. What a talented lady you are. I adore all of them, but if I could buy one it would be the first one to start with, it's gorgeous, such apparent simplicity, but such an impact. Well done indeed..
P.S. I said 'apparent simplicity', but I'm certain it is not simple at all...

Thank you so much Shirley and Bredakelly. Yes, Millie has taken over the doorway to the studio........with claws and teeth. She apparently doesn't know which side her kipper is buttererd on!
Some are simple and flow easily and some take ages to decide what and how to do. It's just time and concentration!!!

24 Sep, 2011

There's a lovely sense of peace and gentle movement to this one Lulu..like it a lot.

27 Sep, 2011

And you'll get to see it Tet!!

28 Sep, 2011

Your stag is wonderful Lulu . . . love the shapes and different shades in him, and the antlers are SO imaginative! What a skill - inspiring.

Seems to me the cooler seasons are the time to get creative (less gardening), so I'm planning to get out the calligraphy pens and have another go!!

28 Sep, 2011

Glad to see you back on line Lulu..pse could you pm name of the stud? Guess it should be on the gate...or not?

28 Sep, 2011

2 Oct, 2011

Aw thanks Cheepcheep. My hubby is just setting up the stall at Cheltenham racecourse (me having just returned from hospital, so wouldn't be much help!) Preying that high winds don't cancel the day, having spent a year making the blasted things!!!
