Smiley potatoes .. Honest

Some of you may remember the discussions me and Gilli had earlier on in the year regarding smiley potatoes . .. . yes! smiley potatoes I didnt believe it either when I planted them, below is the packet they came in.
=============
Any way I planted them and watched them grow next to all the unhappy potatoes , and then tonight I was sure I heard giggling coming from the pot.
=============
So I pulled the plants and tipped them into the barrow, all I could hear was hysterical laughter
=============
I gave them a wash and there was a real mixed bunch, there was a wee happy one with no eyes (get it spud no eyes)
his evil looking brother
=============
The Chuckle Brothers
=============
And the happiest one of them all.
=============
Now I have no idea how they manage it but anyway group photo.
Say cheese lads!!
I really will need to get checked by the Doc

Hi Mac.....
...nice to see you on GoY. :o) :o) :o)
9 Nov, 2009
Hi Terra, I was on hols and was busy in garden trying to sort it out in between the rain.
9 Nov, 2009
Hi Mac...
Those are very good excuses which I will accept... Lol.
I hope you enjoyed your hols.
and trust your garden wasn't flooded like some others in Scotland !
9 Nov, 2009
no garden is fine Terra, although it is in a bit of a mess so its greenhouse cleaning when its wet and veggie patch weeding when it's dry for a few weekends to come , to be ready for next year.
9 Nov, 2009
That's good to know the flooding avoided your lovely garden and veggie areas. :o)
9 Nov, 2009
Hi Mac.....good to see you back.....I was wondering where you were. :o)
10 Nov, 2009
I've just looked at this again ...laughed out loud again...it's still hilarious. Would love to be able to favourite it for when I'm feeling glum. Good word glum..I like that:-))))))) Ps I've never grown potato or any veg for that matter., but I would love to grow these. What do they taste like or didn't you have the heart? Where do you get them?
10 Nov, 2009
Hi Gilli
I was never really away . . . just down bottom of garden where no one could see me.
10 Nov, 2009
Bornagain...
I asked Mac to put a smiley potato pic on as a photo and he did this...
so there's a photo you can make a favourite...:o)
10 Nov, 2009
Hi Bornagain
you really must try some veggies next year , it's very easy , I grew mostly Maris peers and pipers last year although I bought three small pks of novelty ones, smiley tattties being my favs , I did taste them in fact I wiped the smiles of their faces with a steak pie and home made carrots n broccoli .. splendid!
Mac
10 Nov, 2009
Oh yes? And just what were you doing down the bottom of the garden where no one could see?..........Errrrrrrm......never mind. I don't think I want to know. LOL :oD
11 Nov, 2009

Possibly watering his compost Gilli? :-) I will have a go at container potatoes next year Mac, I also heard on GQT that it's very easy to grow sweet potatoes, in fact they're easier than potatoes. Have you grown these?
1 Dec, 2009
