A busy weekend!

I spent all day Saturday and Sunday in the garden, digging up weeds, moving plants, potting on seedlings. Things are growing so quickly – an exciting time in gardens!
My OH dug the area we’ve set aside as a small veg. plot, it’s not perfect (mostly shaded and damp, or dry next to the horrible hedge) but hopefully it’s good enough for runner beans and a few carrots and beetroot. It’s the triangle to the right of the shed.
The back flower bed is looking much better without the weeds!
Forget-me-nots are a cheerful sight
And this marsh marigold, while not the colour I ordered (white) is still beautiful
Today we went for a walk and saw some apple trees absolutely smothered in blossom
What a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Hywel :o) Yes, we had blue skies all day (and throughout Saturday and Sunday), but I don't expect them to be there in the morning. The veg plot is big enough I think, it takes alot of work to maintain a vegetable garden and I don't think my heart would be totally in it. I intend to plant some salad potatoes in big buckets, and a few dwarf french beans in a tub we've got. I also bought one cherry tomato plant and a pepper plant today, but that's enough.

Actually, my garden could really do with some rain - my water butt is empty as well! I just hope it rains in the night, so I can get on during the day...
Your hard work is paying off - well done!

Thank you Donna :)
Spritz, we're getting the rain the garden needed now, hope you had some too!
Thank you Daisy, as a new gardener I'm amazed at how much I enjoy the hard work!
Thanks Gilli, my poor husband had to wait around until I had finished taking photos of them before we could get on with our shopping trip! :oD

Our forecast was: rain this morning, sun this afternoon - so why am I indoors at 3.30 pm? Yes - its raining! It was cloudy this morning. I have just come in, rather dripping, as I am stubborn.
Guess who filled the water butt with the hose this morning when the rain didn't arrive? :-(

Spritz what did you expect? It's the same as hanging the washing out, it's sure to rain within an hour! lol

garden looks good madmum, :) whats wrong with the hedge by the way apart from being hard work, very long, nicer to see green thou rather than a fence,

Sanbaz, the hedge is leylandii and it's dying in places, ugly brown bits, the soil next to it is dry and useless, plus it takes up 3ft x 50ft of garden which could be used for flowers! lol

You have a small veg plot like mine.
The areal view of your garden is lovely :o)
I can see blue sky in some of your photos. We had it earlier but it's gone now. Probably rain tomorrow.
