weedkiller advice

as on any gardening site there are people with very strong feelings about use of weedkillers and pesticides. however i notice that people often ask for and are given advice on their use.
What I would like to say is that there are quite strict regulations in place on their use and several have been removed from production or you will not be able to use some pesticides/herbicides by the end of the year.
This is not necessarily because they are hazardous according to current knowledge, just that the manufacturer finds it not worthwhile to provide the necessary paperwork, proof etc that is now required under EUC regs.
the Royal Horticultural society gives a list of what can be used and also more importantly , how to use them safely. If you go to the RHS website and use the search, type in Horticultural Advisory Services March 2009 and a 6 page document giving the approved list for home use is available, what they can be used for and safety advice.
Dont want to start a blog on the pros and cons, just would like to point peeps in a direction where they can make an informed choice

The rhs are a fantastic resource. There are so many who dont use these chemicals safely and they can do such damage to themselves and the environment.
thanks mageth for the timely reminders.
