I suppose as Chelsea flower show exhibits the cutting edge of gardening design there will always be gardens like this. love them or hate them they do encourage discussion. without that gardening and design would become static. nowadays most of use would not consider using the traditional bedding of the Victorians or planting roses in a single bed. the public knows what they likes and will take elements from each style to produce something that suits them. Chelsea has always been inspirational for me and many of the gardens that I saw gave a wonderful sense of pleasure, even though I would not personally choose to have them outside my back door

Thank's for sharing your day out at Chelsea with us Mageth, lovely pics! Did you manage to see the L'Occitane garden?

yes Dylan, it looked much better in real life than on telly. I thought it would be a bit cliched but it wasnt. I can only go afternoons now since I work in education. I didnt get to see alot of the marquee in detail Okasia

I'm glad you enjoyed, but I can't help thinking those designed gardens look rather stiff. I liked the veg photo :o)))

I know what you mean H. some of the outdoor rooms look like living rooms. to me that means housework and who needs that? :o}

There's enough of it already lol :o)
I must say a lot of hard work goes into the gardens though. I don't want to criticize the show at all. It's just me ;o)

No Hywel I think a lot of people agree with you ... I suppose over the years the designers have had to come up with more & more novel ideas to stand out from the rest but some of them looked like they had wardrobes & shelves in amongst the flowers!
My favourite was the lock & the one with the chimenea burning in the background ... when I saw it on TV the fire was lit & it just looked lovely.

Nice pictures looks like the weather was kind,
Best in show was nice but rusty steel work did nothing for it .there are far better ways of framing areas of the garden than that.Being different is fine if it works.
