This week a general tidy up of borders – greenhouse setting seeds etc – seeds set Dill – Nasturium – Stocks – and Brokali Apollo
This is my Witch Hazel – flowering well for its first time – I have wanted one of these shrubs for ages
My projects for this summer – I have two – first one is to get the garden buzzing so to speak – I am trying to introduce more plants to the garden that will encourage the bees and butterflies to visit.
Last year was pretty good with quite a few visitors- but I need to become more knowledgeable about plants and their needs to ensure best results
First of all to make a start I have ordered a wildflower Gro mat from web site www.windeals.co.uk/wildflower – a newspaper offer. I thought I would give it a try !
My second project is that I have been given a section of the allotment to call my own – by OH – pics to follow I hope! of a well organised plot.
I plan to grow courgettes – mange tout peas – sweetpeas – flowers for cutting and herbs and anything that takes my fancy at the time.
Yesterdays walk took us up the side of the old railway line Always a ball is a must! The wild rose was just beginning to shoot
and the Honeysuckle and a flash of yellow – well I know they can be a bit of a menace in the garden – but the bees like them and this one was on the side of the lane ! The country side is beginning to wake up in Shropshire !This Winter Jasmine is growing on the top of my fathers shed – what a trooper !

Nice set of pics Marigold, I`m lucky enough to have an old railway line and a meadow just down the road so my lads can have a good run and be safe as well.
Good luck with all your gardening plans, will be looking out for more pics...

Marigold I so enjoyed your blog.
And as I once said to someone who did hate gardening dont overdo it all in 1 day as then it becomes a chore and not a perfect pleasure.
I never get up.

I ordered one of those Gro mats too Marigold, so it will be interesting to see how our gardens grow. In the past I've just used packets of wildflower seed.

You are going to have a busy time! But it's all good. Glad you got a witch hazel. They are so pretty and they 'flower' for such a long time.
'A garden is a lot of work' , somebody said to me recently and my daughter chipped in on my behalf, 'Isn't that the whole point?' And she's right. I want to be working in the garden. Never happier.
