never actually liked GW

I enjoyed the section on Ranunculus, I've never had any success with them but after listening to whoever it was talking about them I have a better idea of how to grow them, and think I'll try them again next year :)

I think it should be an an enjoyable set of programmes leading up to Christmas and was pleased to see they were doing them.

Yes Wildrose, I agree.

Yes enjoyed it very much, seeing Nell and Patty, but no Ned! It's good of them to do these monthly shows for us though..:))

I agree with Janey and will be getting these on catch up when Rick is watching the football!

I watched it at lunchtime today, in between OH watching the dratted World Cup games. I did grow some Ranunculus many years ago, such pretty flowers with such ugly corms! I reckon sales of them will rocket following that article.

I think these programmes were made many months ago, hence no mention of the lovely puppy, Ned.

The Bamboos at Trebah are spectacular ... a place I have visited twice but doubt there will be a third visit.

Julia, I do remember thinking how pretty they were in the pots on the patio. I didn't manage to over Winter the tubers. I found the following information for you, and myelf too!

The ideal planting for the south of the UK is mid-March.

In the midlands, plant them at the end of March and in the north, plant them in mid-April.

Plant each claw, claw side down, 2cm/1in deep in a well-drained compost in a 15cm/6in pot. Place the pots on a sheltered, sunny patio protected from strong and cold winds. Water well, and then don’t water the claws again until the shoots appear a few weeks later. The young shoots are able to cope with light frosts but if a heavy frost is forecast after the first shoots appear, then bring the pots inside and place in a cool spot indoors overnight.

Persian buttercups are easy to grow but if they get very wet for too long, the claws can rot and not grow so don’t over-water. For best results, feed at least once as the plants are starting into growth. Your Persian buttercups should grow around 40cm/15in high and, depending on the weather, they should start to bloom around 90 days after planting.

Julia, I was really taken with the yellow ones so shall probably buy some, also the very dark ones. We shall have to compare our flowers next year ... :o)

I recorded it, don't know why I bothered, it was hardly a 'special'. Fast-forwarded it, so that was one benefit.

Ange, we did that too! I have no interest in the vegetables segments but really enjoyed West Dean gardens as they are pretty nearby to us. Lovely place for a visit with morning coffee or afternoon tea!

Always cover same things , mostly growing veg. Once said conifers are out of fashion , then watching Monty move plants about , never bothered since lol

Paul, we call it 'Monty digs a hole' as our shorthand here! I'm getting rather tired of most of the format, too.

Shirley, we may be over in your neck of the woods next year so will have to look it out.

4 Dec, 2022

Ange, will you be staying in West Sussex? There are some wonderful places to visit ... :o)

4 Dec, 2022

Probably, Shirley. We want to visit some of the gardens in Sussex and Kent.

5 Dec, 2022

I'm sure you will enjoy visiting them ... :o)
