Visit to a longstanding friend this morning.

A friend of 40 years who actually encouraged me to 🎨 paint. Very grateful to her for her patience over the years.

Rhona lives in a small valley with surrounding orchards. Her cottage is perched halfway down Spout hill looking out on the wooded Colne Valley. She is very lucky to have a small brook of which I’m very envious.

Sadly the local rabbits are very abundant and particularly fond of her garden . She is restricted to planting only anti rabbit shrubs.

Blackcaps, Fieldfares and Redwings are regular visitors in the Winter months.

There are many Apple and Hazel trees .The following photos show the snowdrops just emerging under the Hazel tree.If you stretch the photos you can just about see them.

The last photo is of a recent pai ting of mine….the photo was taken last Spring showing the path which leads from my friend’s house. It was a gift for her 80th birthday.

Smashing blog, Julia! Your friend has a picturesque place, filled with wonderful wildlife and a babbling brook...and surrounded by orchards. An idyllic place to live I'm sure.
Your painting is lovely, she must have been so very pleased to receive it for her birthday.

What a beautiful painting - you have such a delicate touch. Your friend looks out on to lovely countryside which must look so different as the seasons change.
