A brief blog today.

Alongside the lake are a collection of Cherry trees still showing off their blossom.

A little further along we were lucky to come upon a very proud protective family…I say family but sadly there were originally 5 goslings.Swans were the culprits according to another walker.

It was so good to see the path edged with wildflowers…the following photo is Cow Parsley or Ammi ?

Love the setting of the next photo…Willow and
water with wildflowers dotted around.

Arrived home with the Spring border colours showing their beautiful diversity. The next shrub being one of them.It is so interesting to see how the leaf colours slowly fade to almost white starting with a strong red, orange and green.

There has never been any fragrance from the Lilac sadly .Growing beside the Photynia the fresh blossom colour of the Lilac is brought out more though and that is a positive!

That’s about it,oh just one more photo…these tulips I have slowly grown to love.Tulipa Angeliqua.

I don't think the plant you asked about it cow parsley.Have a smell of it. It looks more like Sweet Cicely to me.

I agree with you Julia - I too love willow trees especially when they grow near the water's edge.
Sad about the goslings.

Thank you everyone..Stera I'll go with your suggestion...wildflowers aren't my forte.
I agree Eileen the green foliage seems to be exceptionally so.
I'm going to be quite brave and plant out 2 of my perennials tomorrow.

Very sad Chris...the swans are so much stronger..I'm very pleased it didn't happen when we were there.

Lovely photos of your lake walk Julia, I do hope the geese manage to rear the three remaining goslings. I didn't realize swans would kill and eat them. Gone off swans now!
The wild plant doesn't look like Ammi either, Stera is probably right with Sweet Cicely.
Gorgeous Pieris you have, it's just beautiful.
I too have Angelique,I love them and they withstand anything the weather throws at them, also very gently scented..:))

No doubt about Sweet Cicely if that's what it is, because it has a strong rather liquoricy smell.
