Work in progress at the Swan.

The Swan is a listed building just 5 miles from us…it has been lovingly restored over the last 14 years by our friends, the owners.Previously it was a very run down pub, presently a tearoom and 9 b &bs
This is were I maintain the large containers and also hang my water colour paintings.
The first photos show the finished front area…all the pink stone has been exvacated from the surrounding land. This front area where customers can eat has a Mediterranean feel about it…

At the back of the building is their private garden where work is still in progress…the water feature has taken quite awhile.. still not quite there yet…can’t wait to suggest some beautiful Acers etc to the edges.

I was asked to paint a water colour of the Swan when it was opened which is shown below. The Colne brook runs infront of it…yesterday 2 young Muntjac deer were grazing there.Photo failed sadly, they are so timid.

It has become a very popular place with people near and far.My first introduction to lavender scones!!

An interesting blog & I love your painting & the Swan’s surroundings. They are making a good job of it all, I ‘m glad that is paying off for your friends & being a success in the neighbourhood.

It's nice when a historic place is looked after and also made use of.
Lovely painting, the owners must be very happy to receive it :)

Julia, praise where it's due. I have no painting or drawing skills whatsoever and always admire those who have.
