I put one of these in my back garden earlier in the year and it's first leaf has just appeared!! I'd given up on it. I know it won't flower this year, but maybe next year eh? I hope mine's as pretty as yours!

Glorious..... how lovely especially this year!

Thanks, folks! I've been watching and waiting for so long this year - the buds were there such a long time ago, I thought she'd never arrive. Last Friday saw me out in the pouring rain, re-staking (and one waterlogged bud didn't make it) But she's worth it!
Hope yours does well, Sheilar. They do take a couple of years, I find. This one is over 10 years old. I think they really enjoy an open position. I've got it at the end of the bed, between the lawn and the patio. By the way, did you think they shouldn't be moved? I did, but I've just been advised, by Owdboggy, that they can be moved ok. I have another peony definitely in the wrong place, so I'm going to try moving it in Autumn. I may as well - it's completely overshadowed, so I don't think it'll do anything there.

Well done Sarah and Melchisdec.....great display. Mines aren't out yet so I hope you will enjoy mine when she finally makes her appearance. Like your Sarah - she is very slow and a couple of buds have decided they didn't want to play :(
Paeonies are my favourite flower. So thanks for sharing :))

She is a star. I'm still waiting for the show to come to our part of the world but as there are lots of buds I know she will be wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Mel, I've put it in an open position, next to another dark burgundy coloured peony which does great there. When we first bought this house there was one burgundy peony which I thought was in the wrong place, so I moved it. I must have left a bit of root and it grew back. I dug it up again and moved it and, guess what - it grew back, so it's now in three difference places. So yes, they definitely can be moved!!! lol
