Potatoes are growing!

Due to lack of space in the moon bed the ‘moon’ potatoes were planted in those green sacks you can buy for growing tatties in. These are doing extremely well and the sack with the 1st early’s is now completely full of compost! When growing the tatties in sacks you start off with the sack on third full of compost plant the tatties and then add more earth as the shaws grow (they need to be protected from frost) until the sack is full – then you just wait for the potatoes to grow.
Meanwhile the tatties in the control bed are not as far on but still looking good, David earthed them up on Sunday as it was not a roots day :-)

Yes I was really doubtful that they would work to start with but we would certainly use them again.

too late for this year Lovegreen but any large container can be used to grow potatoes so long as it is deep enough and you keep topping up the soil. Make sure it is in the sun though!

Nice sacks for the potatoes. They're doing well in there.
