Try Try Again again

What a lovely day it has been today! . O.K. so it was a bit nippy first thing but the sunshine soon shifted the frost and it has been so pleasant down on the plot just trying to tidy up a bit As we ran out of potatoes just at Christmas we have decided to devote daughter in laws plot to mostly spuds this year and grow everything else on mine. However there will still be room for a row of runners so the morning was spent digging out a bean trench on her patch, This will be filled up over the next few months with green waste and any organic bits and pieces from the cooking .I’ve started it off with all the leaves from my Brussel sprout trees ( yes I do mean trees ,the most spectacular failure of 2010!) and as the particular spot chosen seems to have only a spades depth of topsoil it can only do good
These pics were taken this morning, there’s a lot to do as you can see but what is in seems to be going well and let’s be fair it is still only January!

I hate them anyway myself ( a life long aversion!) so sprouts will definitely be a no no this year. In any case we've an excellent greengrocer here if any one else fancies them.

We've had our first proper brussels sprout harvest this winter, and they are Sooooo much better when you've grown your own and they are cooked within minutes of being picked. I used to be less than enthusiastic about them too, but I'm a convert now. We don't bother trying to grow other difficult things though - as you say, what's a good greengrocer for?
Doesn't your soil look wonderful? You somehow don't expect such lovely friability in January.
